Challenging course with nice greens
Greens were in good condition. Fairways need improvement despite fall conditions. Challenging course.
SGCC golf
My friend and I love this course and have no problems driving 35-40 minutes to get here
During the week there are backups or tedious waiting. The pace of play is excellent
Autumn colors and great weather made it even more relaxing and fun
Good greens
Course is playing well with greens in great condition. It was busier than usual and pace of play was slow people need to be aware when they are slowing up others behind.
Hidden gem
Well worth the trip out. Played twice now, greens were in good shape both times. Rolled great on my last visit. Fairways and bunkers are average for the price point. Will return soon
Back to flawless greens
Played here a bunch a few years ago when greens were all perfect (and lightning fast usually) as it made up for the rest of the course conditions being fair at best. Greens weren’t great for a while so I found other places to play but I took a flyer on a midweek Hot Deal and am happy to say this was the best I’ve seen it out there. Greens were all flawless (and a much fairer speed), tee boxes and fairway were in better shape than before too. Still some hard pan areas to deal with in spots but this isn’t Pinehurst we are talking about here. Also larger pro shop was welcome surprise. Definitely will consider playing again soon.
Challenging in it’s own way
The course is interesting to say the least. The price to play is great, but that also leaves room for interesting variables with the play. The course is narrow, MANY hills, VERY fast greens, quite tall rough, and nothing but hills if I didn’t mention that already. I chipped it onto the green about 8-10 times from 100-150yd out and the ball would almost always hit a hill and rocket off the green by about 30 yd. The greens themselves may well have been greased with a stick of butter throughout the day. Determining an accurate pace of putting was darn near impossible. Best bet was to just chip it into the hole from outside the green if you wanted a bird or par. All this to say, the course was fun and challenging. It definitely forces you to play more accurate and take less risk if you want to score well.
I will definitely be coming back to improve my score.
Greens are great
We had only one group on front of us who let us pass on the 4th. As we were playing scramble this allowed us to finish 18 holes in 3 hours. Greens are looking good and playing pretty fast.
Hidden Gem
Lovely course. In great shape. Nice layout. A way better course to play than many others that are near double the price. You will not be disappointed. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating.
Reasonable course with reasonable price
The front nine is much easier than back nine, I shot 43 in front nine and back nine was a disaster, 61!
Fairway is narrow and the water hazard in back nine is challenging, if I play gold. Red is much easier for me.
There were groups popped in from 10th hole in both games we played here, slowed down the pace quite a bit.
It's not very convenient with no restroom on the course except in the club house.
First Round
Good course to play, challenging greens with lots of holes with elevation changes. Played after a day of heavy rain so the greens were slower than typical.
A very positive Round
Person checking us in was polite, professional and kind. Course was pretty wide open, had a couple singles we let play through. Course layout has it all - some nice long par 3's, couple dog legs and multiple holes with water very much in play. Greens were in very nice condition - not overly fast but pretty true. For the price and the pace of play you can't beat it.
You get what you pay for
Most of the country town courses in NC are just converted grazing acreage and not well maintained. By this standard this course was basic
Excellent Greens
Hadn't been to SGCC in 2 years. Greens are very good.....just write down 3 putt if you get above the hole! Fairways are adequate, rough is manageable. Quirky holes and a lot more difficult than the scorecard would suggest.
Old school style course that you love or hate.
Great Course
Having never played this course added the “unknown” factor; however, the course itself presented many challenges not seen in the area I normally play at.
Rolling hills, with elevations and water challenges were a pleasant surprise compared to my normal pretty flat courses played.
It definitely showed our group that we need to get better at knowing our club selection. :-)
Highly recommend anyone passing thru or close to try it out!!
Good Course for Good Price
This was my first time playing this particular course, one of my companions son lives near Creedmoor told me about it.
Course has more challenges than most courses I’ve played. Not only some water hazards, but higher n lower terrain as well. Additionally, a couple of the holes will really “challenge” your knowledge and expertise with how well you can control your clubs. 😁
I don’t live really close to this course, but it has moved to the top of my list for when I’m traveling to this area.
Very pleasant staff, local members friendly and approachable.
Two Thumbs Up

Nice day!
What a perfect day to play golf. To make it better, my wife played as well. We always have a great time on the golf course. (When it is not to hot or to cold. My wife is what some would call "a fair weather golfer".
