Golfer Reviews
Westport
Greens were tough, tee boxes need alot of work. Fairways barely had grass in them, having to hit off dirt half the time or a very hard surface. Course needs some work for sure. Looked better 10 years ago.
Would not recommend
Pictures of course do not accurately depict the quality of this course. Greens covered in sand, very spotty/hard fairways. Pace of play was awful. Played as a group of 2, got through holes 1-5 in 45 minutes. Took 2 hours to play holes 6-9, 10th tee was backed up 4 groups deep. $45 to play is not justified in current condition. Have played local municipal courses for $30 in better shape that showed more consistent up keep. Fair course for beginners, however would not recommend for an experienced golfer.
Greens aerated
There was a fivesome that was allowed to go out in front of us (we were a twosome)... they were slow as heck and did not offer to let us go around them. So we skipped hole number 4 as we were waiting on EVERY hole for them. The fairways were in rough shape, and the greens were aerated with sand covering them. Making them very hard to read and gauge speed. Then we got to the seventh hole and were told by the starter that we had to play the front nine a second time as back nine was still being aerated. Tee boxes were also rough. I like the challenge of the place, but all things considered.... hmmm
Goat Track
Worst course an me staff in the greater Charlotte area. Save your time and money. There is a reason it’s cheap and the tee sheet is wide open.
Waste of Money
I recently played on a Saturday mid-morning. There were a couple of things that really bothered me and will deter me from coming back:
1. $16 charge for my fiancé to ride in the cart with me. Being that I already paid for the cart with my greens fee, they charged me an additional $16 for her to sit in the cart and look at her phone. BS.
2. I played 18 holes and 12 of those holes weren’t even flat. Whoever cuts these holes did so on severe down-slopes and side-slopes making putting nearly impossible for the average golfer.
3. The starter has absolutely no idea how to operate a schedule, sending singles off in the middle of foursomes causing a nearly 6 hour round of golf.
4. For the $50 I paid for a Saturday round, the place looks like a goat track. I’m not asking for Augusta, but I am asking for grass.
This place stinks. Straight up.
Average-Decent course for fair price
Overall this is a fun pretty average course to play for a standard $40 round with cart. Greens are usually a little fast but weather can dictate that condition at any time. I’ve played here several times and usually greens I would give a 6/10. Fairways depending on season are usually average at 5/10. Fairways can be a little narrow for some. Good mix of holes with hills and some long and flat. Finally the tee boxes are probably the low point. Most tee boxes cease to have decent grass and are hard to spot 3/10. Course play can move slow at times depending on how busy and I’ve had to wait 5-10 minutes for carts before no huge dilemma though. Unfortunately there’s no range here to warm up before however they do have a pretty nice little chipping and putting green next to the clubhouse I would give 7/10. Overall if you’re looking for somewhere to keep it relatively cheap with a pretty average course and get some practice in this is a great place to look. At its worst maybe a 5/10 and best 7/10 with seasons/weather factored in.
