Golfer Reviews
Potential
This course has plenty potential if they spend some money on the course
deplorable
Wow..Just played an old favorite, Westport..I have never seen a golf course deteriorate so badly in a years time..Played it this time last year and the Course was in superb shape.NOT NOW! Greens are infested with Poa Annua,, there iis no grass on the fairways, and the rough looks like it hasnt been mowed all year. Whoever is in charge of the grounds needs to be fired immediately. Westport has become a purely recreational goatpath for a the golfer who doesnt keep score..This great ole course has fallen victim to some horrible mismanagement. Dont wasre your money here!..
Poor conditions
Tee boxes have little to no grass, fairways were okay and the greens were very spotty. Would not recommend with so many other great courses in the area.
Nice little track
This was my first time playing the course. We teed off at 8:50 on a Friday morning. The staff pressed us to tee off right on time as there was a slow group on the sheet right behind us, which I appreciate. The round was very enjoyable. Pace of play was excellent. One group let us play through and smooth sailing after that. The layout of the course is nice. Several dog legs, water that impacts tee shots. It is quite narrow in places and requires shot making and strategy. The greens were in good shape, the fairways and some tee boxes were a little bare and the cart paths quite rough in places but for $40 I thought it was a great value. Definitely will be back.
Rude unprofessional staff
Don't waste your time or money visiting this course. First off in the mist of a Pandemic (COV19) every course I've visited in the last several weeks are practicing social distancing....as ordered by the Governor....not these guys....not only did they expect me and my foursome to share carts which we all live in different regions of the area they charged a ridiculous fee of $16 for separate carts.....which was not mention when the tee time was booked and paid for on golfnow by another member of my 4some which coost $25 each...It's was clear after a while that they had over booked the course and was concerned they wouldn't have enough carts so they decided to change $16 per golfer per individual cart to discourage use of individual carts......the guy checking golfers in was very RUDE....and condescending as if practicing social distancing and someone's health is a joke...The Joke is this course and it's staff......Stay away.....
Terrible Management
Me and my fiancé decided to get out and play a round of golf. She was tagging along to get out of the house and enjoy time watching me play but we were informed she would have to pay full price to ride in the cart with me even though she wasn’t playing. They gave some bogus reasoning about golf cart shortage and even though I was a single and the seat would have been open regardless they still were going to make her pay. I will not be back unless management reviews how idiotic some of the rules are.
Westport Evening
Greens were in really good shape. Fairways and rough were ok in spots. All in all not too bad.
Good value
If you want a fun layout and good price this a good bet. Really could use some attention.
Needs lots of work
Worst shape I've seen a course in ever. 20 years of playing. Needs lots of TLC. Wouldn't go back unless there was a huge overhaul of the grounds staff.
Last time maybe
This course is tough to begin with since it has a lot of hard dog legs that are less than driver and that typically leaves you with a mid to long iron in on par 4s . But, they have Bermuda greens that are dormant now, which wouldn't be so bad except there were a lot of little sprigs of grass growing all over the greens. Oh yeah, the beer was hot too. Good thing it was inexpensive to play.
Great layout, good value
Course was in decent shape for this time of the year. Greens were pretty bad. Lot of rain lately so I guess that had a lot to do with it? They were “fuzzy” and very slow. Cool layout. Lot of doglegs that really made you think about club selection.
Great course for the $$$
It was 36 when we teed off and you wouldn’t have known that for how the course played. Good release on shots and the course played nicely.
Not my kind of course.
Greens were in rough shape. They had a lot of weeds on them. Not crazy about the layout. A lot of bear spots in the fairways as well. Not worth my time or money.
The staff couldn't have been friendlier
Upon arrival, Monty, who is a retired vet, explained where we needed to go and explained the first few holes to my fiancé and myself. He also told us the about any specials, and just made us feel welcomed. Thank you Monty!!
