Westport Golf Course

Played here for first time, there are numerous tee shots where you can't see landing area, very tight course and many leaves blowing everywhere. Lost more than 3 balls in leaves just off fairway. Used irons for safety. Teeing areas need to be cut, greens where good but usually covered w leaves. I doubt I will be back.

Greens are great condition. Fairway could use some work, but really not bad. For a slicer/fader this is a difficult course to enjoy. Plays longer than most courses because constantly hitting to uphill greens.

if you like a challenging course this place is for you. I personally don't. I like a grip and rip style course.

Yes grass on tees little tall but to me truly does not effect tee shots. Many say course is really tight but only hole 14 is really tight and overall only bad hole design on course. Course is not wide by any means and I wasn't playing my best but found most fairways from the white tees. Played the day after Tropical Storm Zeta but course seemed to drain well. Greens not real fast but after that much rain is expected. All rolled true. You have to take time to read these greens as there are mamy subtle breaks that are hard to pick up on. I will definitely play the course.

At least once a week you can get a round for less than $20 (before green fees and taxes). Pace of play is below average, probably because they don't space out tee times enough and let people begin as soon as they check in. Can't complain about course conditions if you hit the ball to the right spots. Some spots off the fairways are very patching and bald. Overall, this course is a great deal and probably the best for your money within 45 minutes of Charlotte.

Greens are coming into shape after a rough summer.

Greens are in fantastic shape right now. Hardly saw any pitch or spike marks and they rolled very true. Fairways are coming around. Pace of play was excellent. We got around in about 3 hours. Leaf gremlins got us on one hole but that's not too bad this time of year.

The course overall was very enjoyable to play. My playing partner and I had a person with us, who had local course knowledege. I felt this was beneficial as there were a couple of holes that from the apparent view, did not know how to play.

The only negative take away is that the courses tee boxes need repair.

I was worried about playing here after reading some of the reviews, but I used a “hot deal” for $20 for 18 Holes and I think that’s the best deal yet I’ve gotten on this app. That being said some of the reviews are correct: the tee boxes need attention. But in my estimation it is because the grass is too HIGH. When you’re teeing up an iron for a par 3 it still feels like you are in the rough because of the tee box grass height. Other than that I was very pleased with the course. Greens were in great condition and fairways were ok. I’m an amateur 18 ish handicap, so I started from the whites the first 9 holes and this course is TOUGH. The rough was ROUGH and thick like it should be. I wasn’t used to that. I had to switch to the orange tees for a confidence boost for the second 9, but I’ll definitely come back again when I hone in some more skill. Definitely NOT for the beginner. Beautiful course though.

Overall good experience. Greens were in great shape but slow. Fairways were good. Tee boxes need attention. Grass was so long that on iron shots I had to tee my ball about 2 inches above ground level.
