Very difficult, but lots of fun
This is a great course that gives you a huge variety of shots that you must pull off to score well. I have played it probably ten times and I learn something new about the course each time I play it. This is a must play course especially with some of the cheap rates you can find.
Great track
This is a great course in all aspects. Layout is both visually interesting and challenging from a strategy viewpoint. Greens would be great if players did their jobs with ball mark repairs. Need to see 12 layout for First time players. No one was one the course when I played so I have no idea on expected speed of play. I will play there again
Soggy but fast
Tough conditions with rain on and off all day, but course stayed dry and greens drained well. Cart path only was understandable but hurt the benefit of the GPS though it was working. Because of the weather I enjoyed a 3 hour round which would have been faster but for the rain. Course is in good shape.
Enjoy the views
I will never forget many years ago playing this course for the first time. Perfect fall day. Leaves changing. There is not a more beautiful course in the area......to bad the guy that designed it forgot that you have to play golf here. There are 18 flat lies on the course, and they all have tee markers on them. I am not opposed to uneven lies, but when 8 of the non-par three holes, have extreme slopes in the middle of the fairway it gets old. You are almost penalized for hitting good shots on these holes. Now for the condition of the course it is in great shape tee to green. The greens themselves are rough. Nobody, I mean nobody fixes ball marks. Not just the subtle marks, I am talking the ones you can see from space. In all my time playing this course more than any other is border line an epidemic status on this, and for the life of me I am not sure why this is the case? If this is your first time playing enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet, and let the game be second. Enjoy. Hit em straight!
other's edicts
You can tell the crew was working hard after the rains to get the course playable. The problem was arrogant golfers to good to track down divots. Watching for worn down fairway travel. Simple things need to be considered by the golfer as a hobbiest. Great holes . Quick to get on course.
the course was above average
the reason i said above average and not very good is because the greens were in poor shape. there were bear spots, uneven roll, and very slow. other than that i enjoyed my round. unfortunately i can't say the same for my partner. he grumbled the whole round.
Equally hard and easy holes
They closed the restrooms, store and couldn't get drinks and food after 5 . This is unacceptable if I needed to go to the restroom I had to wait untill I got home because they closed early. I had to cut my golf session short so I could go home and use the restroom
Sir,
We're very sorry to hear about your experience, and we're even more sorry that it has taken this long to address it. Rest assured that the problem you experienced is an outlier, and under no circumstances should our facility have been closed so early in the day in the middle of the season. We're sure this was the result of an employee skipping out early because there was no supervisor on the premises, and we will definitely not allow that to happen again.
Is there anything else we can work on that will turn your next review into one of 4 or 5 stars?
Beautiful fairways and greens
My first time playing at Pevely. I loved the course and the view.
challenging course in beautiful surroundings
Very nice course with beautiful hillside surroundings. Challenging yet fair.
Great course
The staff was extremely efficient and ready to help. Course was in outstanding condition and the rate of play was exceptional. We finished 18 holes in 4 hours. Far better than many of the other courses in the area. For the few dollars more, it was well worth the money.
Tee to green great shape.
Tee to green in great shape, greens recently aerated so they were a little slow and bumpy. Friendly staff, good food and drink.
Pevely always excellent
Pevely is one of my favorite courses. Always a challenge to play well.
Always fun!
Always enjoy playing at Pevely. It is rolling, scenic, and challenging. The course is in great shape. Greens roll great, fairways are well maintained, and the rough is not too bad. A little overpriced for weekend play but that is St Louis golf. I booked as a single on Golf Now and found a good deal.
Pevely Farms
Course was in excellent shape. Greens had just been plugged so they weren't rolling as well as normal. Had a couple of delays because they were working on the greens.
sand
Sand traps, like all sand traps on Walters courses, are deplorable. Spend some $ and improve!!!!!
Good course
Good course. Had fun. They were working on something's on the course to make it better
Brother's Favorite
My brother comes in from Connecticut once or twice a year and we play several rounds. This course is his favorite. GPS in golf cart, challenging holes, beautiful well manicured course, nice clubhouse and great staff.
Good condition
The greens were pretty slow, overall in good shape
Great staff, very friendly
Beautiful course, playing a bit harder than usual, I'm told, because their mower for the rough has been in the shop (now fixed), so the rough was thick. It had rained a lot lately, so greens were on the soft, slow side.
The course is hilly, yielding many links-like lies.
Lots of trees and some water. Don't let this description scare you off, though, it's a beautiful country course, which I wouldn't hesitate to play again.
Expensive, but great course.
Played Pevely on Monday and got what I expected, great course conditions and a challenging layout. Pevely is in my top 5 public courses in the St Louis area. The $50 greens fees /w cart is a bit ridiculous on a Monday, but it had been a few months since I played there, and that should tell you everything you need to know about the course. It is one of my favorites so I pay the $50 to go back time and time again. There are better courses and values in the area, but Pevely is still a must play.
Sir,
Thank you so much for your comments. We just wanted to address you personally to let you know that we plan on rectifying the problem with the pitch marks, as it seems to be a common complaint about our facility. Is there anything else you think we can work on that would turn your review into one of 4 or 5 stars?
