Challenging layout
Difficult course that requires you to setup shots to the greens rather than blast driver.
Hopefully the greens get better as the season opens up but they were borderline unplayable on some of the more difficult holes.
Course was fairly maintained except for the greens. They were in very poor condition. When there was grass (mostly brown), it was hard as a rock. Another foursome in front of us only had 2 bags and this slowed things up. The course is affordable and challenging with water and traps. If they can save the "greens", then this place is worth playing.
The Pines a diamond in the rough
The layout of the The Pines is great and is truly a shot makers course. On a pure layout basis it is a very enjoyable course that, regardless of skill level, anyone can play. What is holding this course back is the conditions on the greens and fairways. The greens would benefit from the touch of a skilled agronomist and over-seeding the fairways in the fall would be a plus.
Wonderful, friendly staff
Wonderful course a little challenging, finding all the holes wish it was more course friendly. Other than that beautiful time we had will be back.
The Pines at Elizabeth city
I like the layout of the course..driving range was close and cart path only. Fairways fair, greens bumpy, sand traps wet and solid. I teed off the front and for some reason a foursome teed off on 10 that was never in front of me. I will definitely play again and blame course conditions due to season.
Avoid at all cost, not Golf Now friendly.
Had a 2:20 tee time and go to check in at 2:05. Was told there was no reservation in the computer, when I was charged less than 5 minutes ago. Wouldn’t ever look at a confirmation number. No carts outside available because it’s cold outside and they were closed in the morning…. So I wasted $25, but I could “walk if I wanted too”.
Better than it was the first time I played.
We really enjoyed playing the course on 10/08. I had only played there once before a couple of years ago and due to the greens weren’t in the greatest shape and there was an over abundance of geese I didn’t go back. We (3 of us) are glad we gave them another chance on 10/08 and we really enjoyed it.
The Pines
1st time playing here. I thought it was an incredible value. Great course layout with good course condition. A little bit of crab grass in fairways, greens were hard to hold (no divots). Greens were in good shape, rolled true, probably a 9 on stimp so a little slow. All in all a fantastic value
Nice Course
Layed out well, Other than goose poop in a lot of places it was an enjoyable course.
The greens were in good shape, bunkers were horrible, so bad we didn't play out of them.
Overpriced for the course conditions
Going back downhill quickly
After a lot of improvements to the course earlier in the year it seems as if ownership just does not care about course conditions anymore. The grass in the fairways is like hitting balls out of your back yard if you didn’t cut it for 2 week, bunkers are full of mud, tee boxes severely out of level, and the greens have long grass and starting to disease. One could deal with all this if the price reflected the product but that’s just not the case. The only time this course is worth the money is if you catch it on a hot deal for $20. For the same money they want for a normal tee time I can go play The Pointe and Carolina Club for $5 more dollars and play Albemarle Plantion for $54. The course has a lot of potential but the owners have to invest in the place. They might need to bring back some inside help because I’m. It sure they know what they’re doing.
The course was a tight design fairways and greens were real close together. Had one shot land on our green while we were putting.

Cheap decent course (Can’t beat the price)
Pros: $20 to play 18 w/ cart is hard to beat, staff was friendly and helpful, course was fun and challenging, and club house had a gym and shower inside the locker room.
Cons: Greens were very slow and small, fairways were decent, sand traps were not kept up well.
I am staying in OBX and drove an hour to play here. Can’t really afford the $150 plus tee times at the near by courses so this was definitely worth the drive. If you are looking to get a round in without paying crazy summer prices, this is a good spot.
