Very Disappointing Experience – Course Needs Significant Improvement…

I wish the previous reviews had more accurately reflected the current condition of Rose Hill Golf Course. We certainly would have appreciated knowing what to expect before booking.

We played Rose Hill Golf Course this past week and unfortunately left very disappointed. We had been looking forward to playing here because the course looks so beautiful when driving by. Unfortunately, appearances were deceiving.

The overall condition of the course was poor. The greens were especially disappointing, looking more like fairways than putting surfaces. They had weeds growing throughout, were inconsistent, and clearly lacked proper maintenance. The fairways were just okay for the most part, but certainly nothing impressive.

Even the golf carts were disappointing. Ours was dirty, with a ripped seat, which only added to the feeling that the property isn’t being properly maintained.

While playing, we learned from some of the golfers in our group that the course had changed ownership after falling into significant disrepair. Apparently, the new owners have had a difficult time bringing it back. While that may explain some of the problems, it doesn’t change the experience for those paying to play.

It’s unfortunate because this property has so much potential. With proper attention, maintenance, and investment, it really could be a wonderful golf course. But right now, it needs a tremendous amount of work.

We were genuinely excited to play here and wanted to love it, but sadly, we won’t be returning.

Rose Hill was supposed to be getting better. It’s not. If it’s rained within the last week, the front nine will be muddy.

The back nine is decent.

In both cases, the greens have weeds and patches everywhere.

Won’t be playing again.

Local rate to get $15 off really makes this place a great value for anyone in the Savannah/Hilton Head area. Was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions. Only complaint was the greens were a little slow, but they still rolled true.

The course was very nice, in great shape and a gem to play. Thoroughly enjoyed my first round with John which was an employee at the course. Will definitely play here again.

Rose Hill is a nice layout but just like every other course the slow play is horrible especially with the local members that feel entitled to take extra time on each shot knowing there are groups behind them waiting.

I would suggest maybe playing the course late in the afternoon to avoid the most of the slow play your going to encounter in the mornings there.

Rose Hill is a best-kept secret! The course is in great shape, especially considering the drought we experienced this year. Staff is great, and Clubhouse Restaurant is excellent

Fairways and greens needed mowing on the day we played, but overall Rose Hill is a nice course, well laid out and maintained. Good value.

I read the reviews of the course and still thought I would give it a try. The reviews were right, the length of the fairway grass was what you would expect in normal rough and the rough was extremely long. The greens were extremely, extremely slow! The layout was nice and the staff was excellent, but the condition of the course left a lot to be desired.

I played Rose Hill as a single as I just wanted to work out some rust and needed an uncrowned course so I could hit a few balls into greens. It gave me that opportunity. The fairways were long and spongy Bermuda, but they were cutting them while I was there. I think there had been a lot if rain the prior week. The greens were the most disappointing -most had little clumps of crabgrass throughout. I didn't mind, because I wasn't working on putting, but it would be an issue if you're playing a match or playing for a score.

Generally, I liked it ok. The folks in the pro shop were very friendly, and the fees were at least $25 less than other courses I looked at in the area. I also think this would be a great course if you wanted a family golf outing. The layout is sufficiently challenging. Every area needs a course like this.
