The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

The course needs some work
I’m fairly new to the area and chose this golf course primarily because of its proximity to my home. The course layout is pretty straightforward, especially if you can keep the ball in the fairway. I like how fast the fairways play, and for the most part, the greens are in good condition. There are a few that need some work, but the course manages this by keeping the flags away from those trouble spots.
The biggest drawback is the tee boxes, which are in rough shape. Some of the teeing areas are so hard you’d need a jackhammer just to get a tee in the ground. The staff is friendly overall, but if you’re a single trying to reserve a tee time, they’ll turn you away. Having worked at a fee course in Myrtle Beach, I know that revenue is what keeps the doors open, so this policy is disappointing.
Overall, I’d rate the course 2.5 out of 3 stars.
Overall the course was great and well maintained. My only complaint was in took just over 5 hours to finish because the course was so busy. The marshall did try to speed things up though. The greens were slow but in good shape and well maintained. Fairways are narrow and unforgiving if you struggle with accuracy. Overall I will play here again and would recommend it to others.
Nice round ofcourse, geen surroundi gs
Nice round, green surroundings, enough variety and some challenging holes. Conditions and maintenance good
Good value course
The layout is challenging, lots of water around the green, fun to play, worth every penny
Solid Value
This is challenging course but fair. Great conditions considering it’s now winter, the greens are in solid shape. Some areas are under repair but that shows they are investing and taking good care of things
A challenge
The course is fantastic with great hills and mounds which offer a different low country golfing experience . One of the few courses you can get an early tee time at in the area
Average Course
Pine Forest is very average. The course is certainly in better condition on some days and worse on others, but I've never played a day where the course was in great condition. Staff is extremely friendly, and fellow golfers/members are too, I do believe the cost is pricey for what it is.
Love this course
They have really got the greens rolling well again, excellent value
Great course for the money!
It’s longer than most in the Charleston area. Very challenging! We will be back again!
0/5 😂
This course is a joke. There’s huge chunks of unmowed sod on the greens and un-manicured TEMP holes in the middle of par 4’s. Clay, weeds, trash experience. Played it for $35 but wouldn’t come back if it were free, I promise. Pay a little more and save yourself 5 hrs of bummer. Avoid at all costs. Cheers.
Course had a lot of rain, fairways drained and played well. Standing water in bunkers. Some greens were damaged and not yet repaired. Due to all of the rain, green speeds were much slower than normal. Golfed with a great group!
