About
Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a Robert Trent Jones design that provides a unique golfing experience. This scenic layout is routed across a 1,400-acre nature preserve that is absent of any commercial or residential development for miles. The golf course wraps around its namesake lake, which has a canoe and kayak launch as well as a fishing pier. Deer, fox, and eagles are frequently seen on the course and there has even been the occasional bear sighting. Water has a prominent presence throughout and there are also several strategically placed bunkers. Stumpy Lake Golf Course is a layout that will force you to be creative with your shot making but it's still approachable enough for high handicappers to tackle with confidence. If you're looking to get in even more golf, sister club Honey Bee is located almost right next door.

Golfer Reviews
Good course bur
The course was in decent shape but. They just aerated the greens and sanded. Which was ok just difficult to gauge your speed and break . The good thing was they only charged 1/2 the normal green fees to compensate! As long as it dry and not alot of rain this course works. But gets very muddy with raiin due to high water table being surrounded by a lake
A bit disappointed ☹️
This was our second time playing here. We played a few months ago and only played 9 holes and enjoyed it. We came back in town and were excited to play again and play the whole 18. We paid for 18 and was was told the back nine was closed due to aeration that day and we would have to play the front nine twice. We were given a free bucket of range balls considering we had paid the higher cost. The front nine had been aerated the day before which is fine as we’ve played on aerated greens. These were in absolute horrible conditions with about several pounds of sand which created a very thick layer. Essentially there was little to no green surface in visible sight to putt on and only thick sand. I was super excited to get back into town and see the whole course and play again but ended up being highly disappointed. It’s the height of the golf season so I would expect the conditions to be in better shape. Not sure if I’ll return to see those back 9 holes.
Summer Conditions
We played this course in the spring and it was in great condition. A brutal summer has taken it’s toll on a few greens and tee boxes. Nevertheless I will continue playing here, knowing that this fall and spring the course will rebound.
Great Spot
Came down for family vacation. Brought my clubs incase i needed a break. Found this Gem. Awesome spot. Close by. Well maintained, and above all, very friendly. Had a great round. Will return next year!
Fun course, some green issues
Played here for the 1st time. Not too difficult to figure the course out, particularly with an app. Lies in the fairways are almost always good. 4-5 of the greens are in pretty rough shape, bare spots, nothing that can't be played around or thru. short game practice green is unavailable hence the 3 star for conditions. Greens will hold a moderately well hit ball.
had to wait on many shots because of the group in front
Good but tee times could use a little space.
Solid value. Looks like a few tee boxes are under repair, but otherwise course is in solid shape for late summer and the reasonable price. Tee times were close, we were waiting at every hole and thus someone else was waiting for us a fair amount of time as well (morning round on Wednesday), but everyone was friendly (staff and customers). Will play again when in town and not in a hurry.
The pace of play was great.
The course was generally in pretty good shape. The one exception was a good majority of tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens were pretty good and fairways were decent although very wet since we teed off so early. Overall, a good round of golf.
Course is in great shape
Other than a few hard tee boxes, and a few more in rough shape, this course is in great shape. Greens and fairways are great! Well worth the moderate cost, will be back.
Bugs
Starter puts two groups on one hole. Horrible pace of play and terrible mosquitoes everywhere
Great time
Course is in much better shape than last tie I was there. Well Done to the maintenance folks.
Cart was in excellent condition. Great morning overall.
Etiquette
Course was in relatively good condition but the greens were not very good. Nothing to do with maintenance but the patrons playing. People before us did not know how to pick up their feet or repair ball marks. I repaired atleast 4 ball mark on every green as well as scuff from feet
BRING YOUR BUG SPRAY
Staff was very nice. Course was in good shape. Only complaint was the bugs. If I knew, I would have brought bug spray. The closer you get to the woods, the worse they get. Would definitely play again, with bug spray.
Bring your bug spray
Course was in good shape. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bring your bug spray though. Being near a swampy like area. The bugs are terrible
Recent rain went down good but always a good time
Fn prehistoric sized mosquitos almost killed Me other than that I always love the course
Great Course
Absolutely love this course. Staff is friendly equipment is maintained. Course is clean and well maintained. Course easy enough for a beginner like me and challenging enough for some of the veterans playing with me. We all had a great time. Would highly recommend this course to anybody who loves the game.
Good Golf and Good Times
Over I had a great time the first 2 greens were a little rough but the hole placement was not affected by it. The tee box’s had the green stuff on them called grass so that was helpful and nice to look and use. I was excited about the tee time and conditioning of the course all around. The bev cart was out and came around quite often so that was awesome.
