Maderas Golf Club

Very nice course, even though a little expensive.

Even though the overall experience has been positive, given the price I expected better greens. They were a little slow and, especially in the first 9 holes, had a lot of unrepaired pitch marks.

This was a fantastic course. I can’t wait to come back to San Diego and play it again. Like many courses, if you get good shots, you get rewarded.

The tea boxes are well cared for, fairways in fantastic shape and greens were receptive. I did, however notice that there was a tendency to put the holes on these tiny little shelves and getting them to the pen without a going up or down a hill is really challenging.

The Course was fantastic, as expected. The JBL speakers outside the clubhouse however are powerful except they sounded like a transistor radio. Spend that much money on sound and then not perform made no sense. The only other issues was the throttle control on the carts. WHY do you keep the speed limitations so low. We are not kids so there is no need to restrain the carts. That made me nuts. Will we play it again, absolutely!

From pulling up to playing all 18 holes in about 4 hours 15 minutes this place is awesome. I pulled up they had like a golf club valet they grab your clubs out your car for you put them on a cart and pull it up while you check in for your tee time. Just from the start the course is absolutely perfectly manicured. It is a tough course but absolutely enjoyed it. They really welcome you with smiles and kindness. The only negative I have is no snack cart on the course today not sure if that’s usual or not but other then that I absolutely loved it today thank you for having me and I will for sure be back.

My wife and I played Maderas on 6/08/26. Both of us have played the course many times previously. The course was in great condition, but the pace of play was extremely slow. We waited on almost every hole and eventually had to play through a 2-some in front of us. After finishing the front 9 in 2 hrs 15 minutes, we had to wait 15 minutes to tee off on hole 10.

There were at least 2 groups on each hole for holes 10,11 & 12 and it took 60 minutes to play the 3 holes. When we arrived at hole 13, the group ahead of us had not teed off yet, so we decided to go to hole #4 to play the final 6 holes of the front nine again. We had no one in front of us and played those 6 holes in 45 minutes. The 18 holes we played took just under 4 hours, but if we hadn't switched back to the front nine, it would have been a 5+ hour round of golf.

We love the course, but will be reluctant to go again due to pace of play.

If the cart was extra $30, it should’ve.been mentioned while booking or even on confirmation email. Especially if course is not workable.

My wife and I enjoyed our round at Maderas yesterday. The course was beautiful and in great shape. The entire staff was friendly and helpful.

Course is in an unbelievable location. Upon arrival everything was top notch. Staff was pleasant and very accommodating. Conditions were great and in course maintenance was very considerate. The layout was beautiful. The course is challenging but open. I’ll definitely be going back.

I think this course while not wildly overrated isn't nearly as nice as most seem to. Greens were slow and bunkers were marginal at best. Staff was very stuffy and seemed to interact with the well to do over the normal players. Steele Canyon is a great golf course, solid step up, better course than Maderas. if your looking for this caliber course. Much better. And closer to San Diego.

This course was in fantastic condition. A great course and great staff. I would recommend this course to everyone

I really enjoyed the course. Challenging up and downhill layout. You need to be thoughtful about distance, and accuracy is key. Many trouble spots, but overall very playable.

Marshall’s were rushing us even though we spent likely $300 at the bar and concessions throughout the day. We finished at 4.5 hours and were right on the group in front of us. Took a long time to get concessions even though we preordered before the turn but food and drink were solid. Course was in great shape. Tough pin placements. Great bar post round. Would absolutely play again. Was a little disappointed to see the range was on mats but it was fine.
