Unfortunately prior conditions
This has always been my goto course when im looking to play within a few days. Its always been in great condition and always fun to play. The layout is very challenging but fair and not real long. However, this round was extremely disappointing. The greens were punch what looks to be a day or two prior, with large holes and lots of sand. There was no mention of this on the website and still charged full rate. The course itself was also very poorly maintained and bunkers had little to no sand. I will give it another chance but not until they get their act together. Don't recommend playing it until then.
Never in ideal shape
Whenever I play here, there’s always something less than ideal. This time, the sand was like concrete—it’s been that way for at least a year now. The fairways were great, though. Greens were being aerated, which is understandable but they should have given a discount due to that. The layout is a good one, though.
Vinyard at Escondido
My entire group was unaware that greens had been punched and sanded, making putting extremely frustrating. Also, as is typical at this course, bunkers devoid of sand and ball washers devoid of water. Shows a lack of caring by management...
The Vinyard Escondido
Bunkers, as always, need work/sand...
Also, small things like empty/dry ball washers and divot fillers are easy fixes that always seem to be neglected.
Overall a great day.... minus a few of the staff
Proshop staff was super rude, but everything else was great!
We initially had 6 and only 5 show up and they wouldn't refund or even offer a credit, bucket balls or nothing for the extra player. I also had to show them my phone just to prove that i tried call 3 times in advance to notify them and the response as "Ive been here all day and never got a phone call". Straight out lied to my face as i showed him my phone history.
Then later we got stuck behind a twosome so ended up with 5 players (Which i understand is frowned upon). However, we were still held up by the twosome in front of us and they had an issue with our 5 instead of the two holding u the groups.
Such a nice location with great surrounding (Wineries, views, etc...) to bad our day started off so bad!
Course is in mostly good shape
Course was good, greens very good. Pace of play slow.
Fun and challenging
The Vineyard is a fun but challenging course. The greens are well maintained and fast. The fairways and roughs are in pretty decent shape most of the time. Some narrow fairways with some wide open ones, and most have some undulation to them. The only thing I’d say is not up to par would be the sand traps. Although nicely maintained, they’re always hard. But, who cares about that? Hopefully you’re not playing out of them too often. Again, this is a fun yet challenging course. I do recommend giving it a try or two, or play it often. It will challenge you.
Great Course
Fun course always in good shape. Very challenging right out of the gates first 3 holes, but after that very fair and fun. Highly recommend it. Driving range has shot tracker which is a nice tough as well and several putting greens to choose from.
Well dressed vineyard!
Course was in great condition. Love the layout. And the facilities at this course are the best. Was great to see GM Jose Gomez. He is a very respectful and professional manager. Always a pleasure to see the results of successful leadership. Jose and his team have done a fantastic job. Wish I lived closer so I could join their players club.
Staff in restaurant
The young lady at there restaurant should get 1000 stars!!! She was amazing in the way she helped me get the right thing to eat and right timing to get out onvthe course in time!!!
The worst - not worth more than $40 bucks
The actual design of the golf course is not too bad. The conditions, however, were absolutely horrible torn up fairways divots all over the place. Greens with ball markers all over the place. Just a really really bad condition golf course for the money that I paid. It's worth it for about $40-45 bucks Max. Other than that, stay away from this place. Terrible.
Suer slow
Like the course but they ran out of golf carts and pace of play was horrendous
