Angeles National Golf Club

Still a bit pricey but course conditions were good.

I've been playing Angeles National about once every other month. Its a good value when you can book on site and typically plays at a decent pace. The course is currently in great shape and will definitely challenge any golfer. I'm a 2 handicap and find Angeles National more difficult than most courses. The food at the turn is very basic, I ordered a tuna cup which was dry and made without much thought.

This is a classic Nicklaus design, with plenty of bunkering, a premium placed on shotmaking, and a course that requires strategy from tee to green. The fairways were good--especially for midsummer, and the greens were receptive, a tad damp, and ran true. Please, people take five seconds to fix your ball marks though.

The clubhouse was only partly open, and they seemed like they were running with a skeleton staff. The staff were all exceptionally friendly, but the price of range balls (small bucket of 35 balls for $12?!?) and the food at the snack window (a burrito and gatorade for $34?!?) were strong marks against the management of this place. The carts were nice, as one would expect at a course this expensive.

Angeles National is a beautiful golf course, and the pace of play was excellent. The course itself was in great condition and made for a very enjoyable round.

Unfortunately, the overall experience fell short because of the lack of food and beverage service. We never saw a beverage cart during the round, the halfway house was closed when we made the turn, and the pro shop had already closed by the time we finished. For a premium golf facility, it’s surprising that so many guest amenities would be unavailable while golfers were still on the course.

Because of that, I can’t give this course five stars. The golf was outstanding, but the hospitality and amenities didn’t match the quality of the course or the $125 green fee.

When you pay $$$, you expect a level of customer experience.

The track was great. Awesome layout and good condition.

There was no starter which caused alot of confusion and did not help with the pace of play.

There was no cart service.

This could be a great place to go regularly so I hope our first experience was just out of the ordinary.

Have played here numerous times so know what I am getting. Took 5 hours to complete 16 holes on 3-July. No starter, no on course ranger, no cart service (which usually they have), and no demonstrated interest from staff regarding pace or lack of amenities. Have previously played midweek 4.5 hour rounds and was hopeful this might be another. The course is in excellent shape and the Mountain View desert golf is as beautiful as it is challenging. However, green fees are expensive for an 18 hole round taking nearly 6 hours to complete. AND, restaurant/banquet facilities being underutilized (no longer open) means one person at the snack shack is slammed constantly for all food and beverage. Again, I know what I am buying and want others to also know.

Our tee time was 3 groups behind, teed-off 20+ minutes after scheduled time. Multiple groups waiting to tee off at every hole. I bailed after front 9 as we were already 3 hours in. To their credit they did refund me for 9 holes, but the experience still ruined the round and tough way to spend father's day.

It was wonderful course with carefully designed gardens, quite nice greens, and breathtaking surrounding landscape. We enjoyed very much.

Good course. Nice layout. Good conditions. But no locker room or a normal restaurant to eat some thing.

Visiting from Arizona, course was nice with a good layout, pro shop staff was very friendly. My only gripe was the pace of play, groups in front were very slow so I skipped ahead, played 13 holes as it would have been at least a five hour round and I was on a timetable

Great course , challenging for beginners yet good for strategy planning!

I’ve been playing here on and off since it opened. The prices keep going up and while the grass itself is usually in good shape, they didn’t even try with the bunkers. They weren’t raked at all (which then leads to golfers not bothering) and on #4 there was literally no sand at the bottom. It was the plastic base or something. For the cost of the round, one of the most expensive rounds in LA, to have unmantained and unplayable bunkers is unacceptable. Any muni at 1/10th the cost has more maintained bunkers.

I’m willing to pay for a good course, usually in good shape and typically a faster round. But everything there is so much more expensive, having playable bunkers is not too much to ask.

Than it used to be. 9 people on a tee box. Extremely slow play. Nobody on the course promoting pace. Almost got hit by a ball and nobody yelled fore. I have been playing there for six years and hadn’t been in awhile. It’s changed. It took two hours to make it to hole 7 - my friend and I left. I’ll never play there again.

I was hesitant to play after reading several negative reviews, but gave it a shot and so glad I came! Disclosure, my tee time was during a dodgers game, which may have helped the pace, but it was wide open on a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful conditions and everything well kept. Great mix of challenging holes and very gettable pars. Nice and scoreable, even for a relatively new golfer. Long courses and wide fairways are hard to come by in the LA area, but are plentiful here. My only negative was 2 groundskeepers pulling weeds too close to (almost directly in front of) the tee box on 16, and they found it acceptable not to move and just spectate my tee shot. Aside from that hole, I really enjoyed every aspect of the course and will absolutely be back!

Excellent course conditions. Greens roll very true. Beautiful views. We started on number 10, but no starter to direct traffic so we were figuring out with other golfers who was up for which tee times. Otherwise, the first nine was great pace and slowed a bit in the second nine. Overall, we enjoyed the golf and would play again.
