About the golf course
First of all this golf course is in good shape from tee box, fairway and greens.
Negatives about this course.
1. Pace is very slow.
2. No starter
3. No Ranger
4. Some of the staff are rude and difficult to deal with.
5. Their policy is not consistent when it comes to golf carts. Some staff give you cart and some don’t, even if it is not busy.
6. The staffs are very disorganized.
Knollwood
Staff was awesome! Round was a bit too long but I come to expect that with afternoon tee times. The cart girl, and the course, would be better served with an actual cart that holds way more than she could in the little coolers.
Couldn’t pay me to come back
I left after only 7 holes and 3 1/2 hours on the golf course. Pace of play was completely atrocious. Staff knows about this and continue to not marshal pace of play or space tee times. There was 4 groups of 2 in front of me before we all ran into 3 4 some’s were all backed up on a par 3. It’s wild and disrespectful to the customer.
Great secret
Great course, no water but long course. Fairways and greens are great, tee boxes are unlevel in some places but otherwise good. Gets a little warm during the summer.
I elevation changes are challenging but not ridiculous like other courses can be. The round was outstanding.
Nice track
The course was in great condition. The pace of play was good. I did not really have to wait to tee off most of the time. Was a little worried about that from other reviews. Was a little windy, so made it a bit more of a challenge. Good thing most fairways are relatively wide. Overall, great day and course, will definitely be playing here again.
Nice Course .. Only Wished They’d Stagger Tee Times Further Apart to 12 Minutes, Rather Than 8 Minutes.. Eliminating say 4 Groups of 4 A Day … That Way When You Get To The Next Tee, Your Group Is Ready To Tee Off.. (Pace of Play 3 1/2 hours to 4 hours is all it should take to play 18 Holes… ) We All Know That Most Golfers are gonna Make 85-100 .. But When You Get Behind These Players And They Take 10 moto hit their Golf Ball.. Makes Golf Unbearable
Great course
Course is in great shape. Really difficult, fun course and great price. Only complaint would be bunkers. But hey just dont go in them! Played here twice and the first 4 holes were slow both times but then pace picked up after.
Course is kinda tough enough for the average golfer with the hills n valleys through the neighborhood… Putting Greens Good Condition.. just wished they’d get on these people for slow play… especially when each Tee Times are like 8 minutes apart… people need to just drop another Golf Ball when it’s unfounded within :45 seconds
Great Bones and Surroundings
Knollwood must have been brilliant in its glory days. The course is a nice layout in beautiful surroundings. The course is like playing in a funnel so shots off course fall back in. Staff is great and you get the idea when it was a private club it was fantastic.
Now, there is no understanding of Golf Etiquette. There are no Marshals governing play. So the pace of play is brutal as no one allows faster players to go through. At hole 13, par 3 there were 5 groups waiting. The bunkers are poor quality and no one takes them. It was like a sand playground. Well hard sand. The greens are full of divots. I was shocked because the course layout and surroundings are beautiful.
Then I realized it was operated by Los Angeles County and you can see why no one cares. There is no pride of ownership with this grand course.
My recommendation is to be either the first or one of the first to play and it may be an enjoyable round. I was 5 hour 18;minute round. That is horrible when a Marshal on the course could have pushed the slow play people or moved them off the course.
Horrible pace of play
3 groups were waiting at the 13th hole tee. Ended up giving up playing. Not worth to wait 30 min to play a hole.
Pace of play
Pace of play is by far the slowest. I understand the Senior citizens that play here on a weekly basis, but the fact that there is no Marshall to help with pace of play, and the fact that 4 of the 18 holes took over 26 minutes to complete each is clearly a reasonable meaning of my frustration.
