My mother, DeAnn, loves to play this course Photo submitted by Jim7343028 on 02/06/2015
Tuesdays are ladies day apparently. I had the first tee time of the day finished the front nine stated the back and then a group of 30 or so elderly women dispersed to every hole on the back nine making it impossible to finish the round in any reasonable time. Dont go on Tuesday mornings.
Not even worth the $16
I would not recommend this golf course in its current condition. The cart rental was more expensive than the round itself, which set the tone from the start.
The fairways are almost completely dried up, and the tee boxes have little to no grass. Ironically, the scattered patches of grass that remain in the fairways make it difficult to find your ball because it sinks down and disappears. Overall, the course conditions are far below what should be expected and doesn't deserve to even be called a gold course.
The layout and signage are also confusing. Finding the clubhouse was unnecessarily difficult, and getting to the 10th hole required walking backward through multiple tee boxes. The signage for the 18th hole was equally frustrating, with arrows pointing in the wrong direction. Navigating the course was often more challenging than playing it.
What makes the poor maintenance even more disappointing is that the scorecard is packed with advertisements, yet the course still appears unable or unwilling to invest in basic upkeep. The fairways are so dry and uneven that the cart ride was constantly bumpy and uncomfortable. The bunkers are in terrible shape as well, with little to no sand and weeds growing throughout.
First impressions don't help either. On the way to the first tee box, you're greeted by abandoned furniture and neglected grounds, giving the property the feel of an abandoned field rather than a golf course. The "practice range" consists of nothing more than a small net where players hit their own balls.
The only redeeming feature was the grass on and around some of the greens. Even then, conditions were inconsistent. At a 1:00 PM tee time, many greens were surprisingly damp, and speeds varied dramatically from hole to hole, making putting unpredictable.
Overall, this course needs significant investment and maintenance before it's worth playing. Between the poor conditions, confusing layout, and lack of basic upkeep, I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere.
Needs Some Work
This is a rough course. Rough in that sides of the fairways are gopher hole cities. The tee off greens are a mess. Most are just dirt. The putting greens are surprisingly “ok” given the shoddy tee off greens. It was pricey for the unkempt appearances but has some great holes.
Sad to see the Links at Sommersly golf carts at this venue.
The greens are ok
Have been playing this course for years and haven’t played in at least 5 years. I was surprised about the conditions. There are basically no teeboxes and the fairways are patchy. If your ball finds a rough it’s usually just weeds. The greens were okay, but the green on 9 was just covered in duck poop. I’m just a bit disappointed because the course is not what i remembered growing up.
If it was free it would still be bad!
This might be the worst course in Southern California even Even if it was free it’s painful to play I don’t recommend it they keep saying it’s in some sort of court battles in the HOA and some other business but for the recreational golfer you shouldn’t have to put up with all of that. In my opinion they should probably wait and close and then open because it’s painful to cough this place good luck of your golf there you’re probably gonna lose about 20 golf balls
Poor Conditions
Course is in bad need of repairs and upkeep. Greens were in good shape but everything is is very poorly maintained. No longer has a restaurant on site so only snacks now is general snacks (chips, Gatorade, etc.). Went there hoping conditions have changed from 4 years ago but it has only gotten worse. So sad because it is in an HOA community.
Fun Course
This is a fun course to play. Good layout but the real challenges come from the unmaintained bunkers. Overgrown roughs. Many dirt tee boxes. However the greens are well maintained and consistent.
DO NOT PLAY!
They should be ashamed to call this a golf course! Fairways are just dirt you don’t get clean lies anywhere! Greens were mushy and water logged. Lady at the front pro shop was rude! Overall horrible experience! I will NEVER come back to this course ever
Conditions have gotten even worse
It’s bad right now and there’s locals that just jump out on whatever hole they want and just slow the pace down. It should be 20 to 30 bucks for how bad it is right now. There’s not a single flat tee box with grass. The greens are ok still but everything else and I mean everything is in very poor condition. Staff as always are great and the gate guard today was nicer than usual.
Not a course to play.
This course was not groomed at all and you could not tee off properly since the T-Boxes were just dirt and uneven. The grass was not cut and bunch of golfer holes and uneven pathways throughout the entire course. The golf cart was hard to steer and must have been broken or damaged at one time or another. We left super early due to the existing conditions of this facility. I will never be playing this course again. Plus people bring their very small children and play as singles and they do not team up with other players so you get pushed to move faster. The facility did not have the email for my reduce rate but they did honor the rate we purchased on the internet. These notes are my personal opinion of my personal experience of the site in question.
Can’t get worse……. Wrong
I keep giving this course another chance thinking it will improve but every 6 months I go back and it keeps getting worse and worse. Buy a mower for Christ sakes. Terrible. Why don’t the homeowners demand more.
Starter in golf shop was really good.
The starter in the golf shop was really good. He went out of his way to help me and my brother. He made our golf outting really fun. Also helped us after the round when we experienced car trouble. Give him a raise.
Worst course I’ve ever played
Was not expecting the course to be in such bad condition. Literally looked like it had been abandoned for 20 years. Don’t waste your money
Not a Happy Golfer
Be ready and bring extra balls! Looks like the grass hasn’t been cut for months. The only way to have good game is hitting every ball straight and perfect… I’m not the best at golf But when u loose too may golf balls because the maintenance is poor Yeah it’s time to spend a little more and drive a little further to find another course.
In the courts
They should have let players know this course is in the courts and due to be adjudicated at a later date which means no maintenance to speak of. The layout is perfect for challenging golf on a short course. So much potential just wasted. Costs should be much lower ask a result.
