About

Papago Golf Course is conveniently situated just a few minutes from downtown Phoenix though you would never be able to tell with the peace and seclusion provided by the course's location in Papago Park. The golf course sits at the base of Papago Buttes, past the rugged red rocks you can see Phoenix skyline. The course was designed by William Francis Bell, whom you may know for Torrey Pines in San Diego. The challenging layout features undulating greens framed with strategically placed bunkers and subtle but tricky mounding. Water hazards appear on a few holes as well. It's a tough but straightforward layout that is still playable for a range of skill levels. Since opening in 1963, Papago has hosted numerous events including the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and Phoenix Open Qualifying.

To expensive

I didn’t bring any clubs and to rent them was $80usd. Would have cost me over $200usd for the round. I turned around and let them keep my money. Found another local corse in the areas and paid $100usd total for 18 holes, cart, rentals, balls, tee, and brought along a rider. Was a great time,

Super fun track and honestly great for people of all skill levels fairways are fairly forgiving staff was wonderful and will definitely come back on my next trip.

Need to Marshall better!

We had a family (assume) of six playing ahead of us at 12:50pm on Sunday afternoon. We had to wait on every shot! Called the pro shop on hole five to complain but we never saw one. Pro Shop said there was “supposed” to be a Marshall on the course.

Nice design but in terrible condition for fairways and fringe areas. Surrounding area around the golf course is very industrial and has lots of construction. Greens were good. Bunkers are in good shape (only in one).

Would never go back. There are Muni’s in better shape.

Complicated layout but great overall

The course has a weird layout just honestly needs some more signage in my opinion. First time golfing it conditions were really good for February. Views from the course are great as well.
