Great course, HORRIBLE pace of play

Our round took almost 6 hours from start to finish and quite a few groups left early because of the pace of play... I've played here a few times and it has always taken over 5 hours with lots of waiting on tee boxes. They don't wait long enough between sending out groups which always leads to a pile up of 3+ groups on the second tee that continues for the rest of the round. It's a shame, because otherwise, it's such a fun course with a unique layout, but it's hard to keep going back when it takes up half the day to finish the round. Also, if you want to warm up, get there early! The chipping/putting green, first tee, and driving range are very spaced out and somewhat hard to find. The driving range is also just a net between the 2nd and 3rd hole, so unless you just want to work on ball contact, I'd just avoid it all together.

Save your money!!!

First time playing here and the entire experience was awful! They were completely overbooked and thestaff wasn’t friendly or personable. They stacked three groups on the first tee box (taking it upon themselves to to just jump in our carts and pull forward) where we sat for 20 minutes waiting to tee off (and got stuck waiting 5-10 minutes on every subsequent tee box). Half of the course is blind where you have to rely on the cart GPS to know if the group in front of you is still in range. You’re guessing at aim points, and you can’t see your ball come down so you’re left just swinging and hoping to find it. Plus, 75% of the course is cartpath only (and the carts shut down if you veer off the path) so you can expect to spend most of the day walking endlessly to your ball. There were two beverage carts on the course, and we only saw each of them once over the course of a nearly 5 hour round. Neither of them were friendly or had any personality and looked as miserable as we did standing in near 100 degree temperatures. Half of the fairways were fried and dead, and the greens were like putting on carpet. All in all, this was an absolutely terrible service experience, and terrible course. Will definitely never play it again!

Disappointing

so I’ve been in Arizona training for three weeks. I played four courses up until now. All had amazing amenities courses were exactly as described in the review but this course was not. No true practice facility driving range was a T box with a net around it which was OK but I think because everything else was so poor it took away from the experience. The fairways rough the boxes are all burn up. It is not being maintained very well at all this course doesn’t even compare to the goat tracks back home. The reviews were not honest and it truly was a disappointment to play!

Amazing and challenging course

Super fun course in good condition for summer a great challenge greens were pure had a ton of fun. My only thing I would say was would be a downside is the driving range is basically in a baseball hitting cage.

Dont be afraid of the tips!

Played this course for the first time. Overall course and greens were in good shape and its a scenic layout. Some holes being really close to residences. Starter was friendly and I got out 1/2 hr early. I was told unless you’re a 5 hdcp or lower (im about 14) probably best to play the blues instead of the tips (black) and leave the driver in the bag. After the first 2 holes I was waiting for the group in front so decided to tee from the tips and did so the rest of the day. I had no issues keeping my drives in the fairway and there was only one short par 4 that I needed to use an Iron instead. As stated there are some blind shots throughout so you have to be sure to give group in front time to clear out. The only thing odd was that hole 9 doesn’t bring you to a traditional “turn” by the clubhouse. No snack shack, nothing, just the #10 tee box. Beverage cart came by several times during the round however. Good experience, I will be back.

Disappointing

Started out bad, ended bad. To start, our tee time was delayed 25mins. Started says “must be some slow play today.” Course is in pretty bad shape all around, absolutely insane charging over $100 for this. Tee boxes were hard to find patches of grass on par 3s especially, but there were a few others that were damaged or lumpy. Lots of dead grass all over, patches of fairways that were hard sand, and bunkers were mainly unmaintained. Greens were lumpy and inconsistent rolls. Marshall’s talked to us twice during the round about a group a few groups ahead of us were playing slow and had been “warned multiple times but we think THIS time is gonna get them to speed up for their last couple holes.” Five hours later I was done and will not return to this course

I’ve had better

I’ve played this course more times than I can count, but I’ve never experienced worst conditions than I did on this outing. Our tee time was 1:50 pm. Staff is always good. Pace was great. Never caught up to anyone; no one pushing us… and that is where the positives end.

Tee boxes: even if you could find a relatively even spot, good luck trying to hammer your tee into what feels like bedrock.

Fairways: dry and hard—like landing my ball in a parking lot.

Greens: would be the only redeeming feature if it wasn’t for the animals playing earlier in the day that can’t fix their ball marks.

Fun Course Design but Not Worth the Cost

Staff was friendly and the course layout was great. This is definitely a course where you need to keep it straight or you’ll spend a lot of time playing out of the desert.

That said, the price didn’t match the condition of the course. Many fairways had large patches of dead grass, and the last hole had turf where tees couldn’t even be used. We also had to switch carts because the battery was dying.

The most frustrating part was an interaction with the ranger. He came out and told us to turn around because “the tournament goes the other way.” We weren’t part of the tournament, and it would’ve made more sense to ask before assuming. Overall, there were several issues you wouldn’t expect from such an expensive course.

Still good shape

For the most part , the course is still in good shape , with a few fairways and greens being a little rough . Staff was ok not exceptional for a resort course . I arrived and no one to greet us or take our bags . When I did see , what I assumed was the starter , he never said hi or good morning . All he asked was my tee time and he had that wrong .

Otherwise , I would play this course again.

Golden Hills Golf Club

Golf course was near empty. Pace of play was great...Finished in 3.25 hours.

Greens were quick and lacking grass. Lot's of bare areas on the greens. Fairways were plush but once of the fairway, grass was hard to find.

Outside services staff was extremely friendly while the pro shop staff left a little to be desired. Overall, I guess I would recommend this course to the part-time golfer. Advance handicap golfers will get bored.

Great I provement

Arizona Grand is our favourite course! We played this course last April (2025), and at that time we were disappointed with the poor course conditions. We decided to try it again this year and I am very happy we did! The course this year is in almost perfect condition. The only issue is the forward (red) tee boxes; many were humped in the center, making it difficult/impossible for my wife to find a flat tee-off spot. This was our last game before returning home to Toronto, but we will be back next year.
