Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

10th Tee. Photo submitted by molineux on 09/23/2013
Course is in good shape.
Course is fine. The back 9 needs sand in the bunkers. The course struggles with the amount of play and they need new carts. My tee time was delayed 30 minutes because there carts keep dying.
Typical Kenny Mac
Great staff...course conditions were moderate with greens that were hard and bumpy, fairways that were a bit spotty and still dealing with the debris from the October 2025 storm.
Could be better
Started our group 15 min late
Starter said they did not have enough carts
Then he came out to the course and said we had to have the carts back by 6:15 pm. Which pretty much guaranteed we would not be able to finish our round. We booked a T-time that would allow enough time, 2:00pm, to finish, without the late start.
Sunset was at 6:30 that day. Enough light to play til 6:45pm. I think it is poor customer relations to try to kick people off the course before sunset. If the course wants to kick people off the course before sunset, I think that should be spelled out on the booking site, before making a reservation. Either way this being a customer service based industry, people should be able to play until dark like other courses.
Bunkers were like concrete.greens were bumpy and inconsistent.
Not sure if I will play this course again.
A shame
This course is in pitiful condition. Trees have been down for over 4 months and there's no reason for this not being cleaned up. The new owners should be ashamed of themselves for charging these ridiculous fees for a crappy course. Such a shame used to be such a fun course at a reasonable price.
No sense of pride. Environment was poorly managed.
Booked a 2:52pm tee time. And was told they did not have golf carts. Their was no accommodations other then I can wait 45mins or walk or leave. Marshall was very brief and had a not my problem attitude. Had a few encounters with other members of staff throughout the course and it seemed like knowone liked their jobs and just didnt care. I know this course has a lot on their plate with storm repairs but this is totally unacceptable. This course had the potential to be a great amenity to homeowners of Tempe and a money making machine. As a resident of this area ill take future business to chandler, phoenix, mesa or scottsdale. I hope they get more golf carts
Grew up on this course - last time ever playing here
Ive honestly never seen anything like what happened today..... i arrived to pay and they say they dont have carts? Ive been playing for 30 years and im not sure ive heard that before. 106 tee time teed of at 146. Waited 15-20 minutes per hole. This place is an absolute joke for $80. Until you guys fix this course that has rubble all over the place for 5he last 3 months and also fix management then i may come back. Stay far clear of Kenny
Pace of play
Arrived to a 30 minute delay that turned into 45 minutes. The starter said they had 15 carts “in the shop.” Also, the downed trees from the fall microburst are still all over the course edges.
Why Make a Tee Time?
Our day started off with a 40 minute wait to tee off after our scheduled tee time. Evidently they don’t have enough carts. Then once we got out to play there were piles of brush that wasn’t cleaned up. Best part of the day was the $5 Four Peaks Wow Wild Berry Beer! Probably won’t be back.
Great value! I was pleasantly surprised by the course.
C'mon guys!
4 months ago, heavy wind toppled a forest of trees on this golf course. Understandably, it created quite a mess. However, it is hard to understand why most of that lumber and tree waste is still piled up all over the golf course. It is in the way of play if you miss the fairways and many errant tee shots end up being gobbled up by overgrown trash piles leaving your ball lost or unplayable. In their defense they have the price set at the low end of the spectrum. If you are willing to tolerate the frustration, go for it. I just wish Tempe would put a little more TLC into this golf course.
Kenny Mac is Great
One of the best muni's in the valley. Any time you can play Ken McDonald, I highly recommend it.
Not in great shape
The traps on this course are hard packed dirt. The damage from the storm is still laying everywhere which led to lost balls. The foursome in front of us was playing multiple balls. We were late getting off because we had to wait for carts to come in. Some of the greens were in rough shape. Not a great experience.
Kenny Mac!
Typical day at Kenny Mac…uneven lies, greens rolled fairly true…lots of standing water after the rain last night and they still haven’t cleaned cleaned up the dead timber from October
Poor
Poorly maintained. Several Greens are poor. All bunkers are terrible. Lots a bare dirt/sand areas along the sides of fairways, etc.
Bait and switch online
The course, was in terrible shape. Booked it for $67. When I got there, they said, oh, it's a holiday. It's now eighty seven dollars should have honored the price, but they didn't not cool!
Not the best for $100 bucks I would say go play other places for now.
Big tree issue from storm have not cleaned up yet which is fine but again for the money else where.
