Ken McDonald Golf Course
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

Just needs better signage from 9th to 10th hole. Golf cart ran out of juice and had to wait for second cart...held up play. Needs bigger golf course map
Nothing outstanding about this course. It’s getting to the end of the high priced season in Arizona so prices are still high but the course conditions just about every where are average. Greens were nice a little slower than some of the fancy courses in the area. Only about one or two holes will test you off the tee box.
Had a wonderful time at a first class course. The fairways could use a bit more water especially No. 1,12,15,. Otherwise fine.
Back 9 more interesting
A municipal course with a power substation abutting the course. Pace of play was slow. We had to wait on every hole on the front. Could be because 2 golfers were playing out of the same bag????? Greens were good but not much differentiation between the rough and the fairway. Wear your hardhat as balls were crossing fairways. Also golf cars with loud music--just not a fan of this.
The Good: staff very friendly-pace of play was great- greens in good shape.
Needs improvement- fairways are extremely bare- PLEASE REPLACE THE GOD AWFUL RANGE BALLS.
well maintained greens
Very forgiving coarse. No hazards. Minimal sand traps
The course is in need of some TLC. The fairways & rough not in good shape. Fairly easy course but with poor conditions hard to score well. Greens Zok shape
You get what you pay for
This course has been mismanaged for the 5 years I've been playing in a league there. I've begged the leader of the league to change venues, and finally he did. They got a new management company last year, but they didn't listen and continued the same practices. The course if over watered and the turf develops a mineral layer just a few inches down. Grass can't grow roots and the result is patchy fairways and dirt rough. Which matches the bunkers with minimal sand, more dirt.
The design is poor. The back 9 includes 3 dog leg lefts in a row. In the middle of this menagerie is a par 5 that your safest 2nd shot is over the next tee box into trees by the green. It's a crap shoot. I've eagled from there, and taken double digits. The 18th hole has a ditch across the entire fairway 280 yards from the Tee. A good drive is rewarded with a terrible stance.
My recommendation is to spend a couple more bucks and find a course that cares. A handicap from here doesn't travel. I don't know how they got such a high rating.
Nice Course for the Miney
We liked this course. Pace of play was good and the course was in decent shape. Good course for average golfers. The putting greens were vastly different than the course greens so not sure there was value in putting before the round. Clubhouse staff and starter were friendly and welcoming. I’d definitely play this course again.
