Wow - Dobson Ranch Transformation
It has been several years since I’ve played DR and wow what a change. All the facilities have been upgraded including Driving Range, Carts and Tees/Greens. If you haven’t been here in a while, you are sure to be surprised. The $59 greens fee at noon not to bad either.
Blue tooth speaker on the cart.
Good value, good layout.
Green condition was very good and fair way good.
I will definitely play this course again when I revisit Phoenix area.
Okay But!
Staff were great and pace of play was good. The greens were good but a bit tricky to putt. Issues I noted were teeing areas were hard and difficult to get a tee in the ground. Fairways were also hard with is great for driving distance stats, ha, ha but you could also roll into a penalty area or a bunker inadvertavtly. Some bunkers had very little sand under the ball. A traditional layout and many times we were dodging balls from other fairways as well as on holes near the driving range. Trying to find your ball amongst the many DR balls in the rough and even on the fairway is a nuisance and slows play. The DR should have a net installed on the sides for safety reasons, etc.
Great course, slow paced
Took over three hours just to make it through 11 holes. The group of us had three in carts and one walker, and no real sense of urgency to keep up with the group in front.
Excellent Course
This is a excellent course for the money. Very well maintained with outstanding practice facility. The only negative thing I can say is the holes are so close together it can be a dangerous course especially coming down 9 and going out 10 as you have the driving ranch with people hitting into both those fairways. All in all a great course though and I look forward to playing it again real soon.
Crapola
They allow fivesomes. No rangers to deal with slow play. We played 5 hour round and that is just too long. Tee off mats on range, severely marked up greens and some bare spots on fairways. No wonder they only charged about $50 a round here. No thinking person would pay any more than that to play this ghetto of a course. No way I’m ever playing here again!
Slow play bad greens
They squeezed extra people in according to starter which as a result, couldn’t finish before dark. Every green had hundreds of ball marks Hit off mats on the range. This is probably second worst course next to kokoplli. They’re so greedy here, they even allow fivessomes. I will NEVER again play this ghetto course.
Good course for the price
It's difficult to find a good deal on golf in January in AZ. Dobson Ranch provides a great atmosphere, the music, the food truck, ETC. Greens were in great shape, fairways were good but had some bare spots and off the fairway was 50/50. Still a fun round of golf. Would definitely play it again.
Dobson Ranch Cold Day
I called ahead of time and knew there would be a 45 minute freeze delay but playing here is well worth the wait. The morning starter is Carl, who is very friendly and was a professional caddy for two hall of fame LPGA women golfers and who himself is in the hall of fame for caddies.
The front 9 plays 500 yards longer than the back nine. the fairways and greens were in great shape. Their snack shack is great and located between the front 9 and back 9 holes. Love the food! Their range is fantastic! I usually play alone and always meet interesting, fun people to play golf!
I highly recommend this public course. They are very friendly!!
Clearly Worth a Look
If you haven’t played The Ranch in a while, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised, and perhaps even impressed. The condition of the course coming out of the overseed has been excellent. The traps are much improved and the amenities before and after the round have seen a significant upgrade. In addition, a recent change to the tee time intervals have had the desired impact on pace of play which is now very good.
Not bad…..
The course itself was in decent shape and the greens rolled true to the read. Pace of play was horrible. 2:09 tee time turned into 2:40 team time and didn’t get any better from there. Not into hit a shot and wait pace of play. Didn’t see anyone on the course helping to speed up slow players (5some in front of us). Only got through 15 holes before it got dark at 630. Cart girl drove straight past us without stopping, and was even while one of us was taking a shot. So can’t say that was the nicest. Not a bad course for the price but don’t count on much staff help along the way.
Overpriced amd rude staff
I played this course twice to make sure it was not a fluke, but both times the staff were beyond rude. I am not sure why golf club staff want to talk to golfers like we don’t belong somewhere. I have played everywhere from Pebble Beach to Kiawah and this staff is just snobby. This place is also overpriced for the quality of the fairway and greens, and just ridiculously priced for a bucket of range balls. Plus this place is too loud; if you want a golf course to be more like a night club, then this place may be for you. For real golfers, this place is obnoxious. There are 200+ other golf courses in greater Phoenix and this is near the bottom for me.
Excellent staff.no 10 a little concern with balls coming from range. otherwise everything was great
Great public course
Dobson ranch is a fun public course. It provides just enough challenge for your average golfer with pretty good forgiveness. The greens are fairly challenging but also fun. It’s a good track for the money especially at this time of year where Arizona golf is at a premium.
Good Condition
Course was in good condition. Pace of play was excellent. A very enjoyable round of golf.
Dave
Excellent staff, course. Course conditions were excellent and the food was good. I would love to play on the weekends but can never get t
A tee time or I would play a lot more
For sure the staff sucke and the low life’s that play here don’t fix ball marks. This course definitely qualifies as ghetto.
