Not in the Best Condition
Driving into the parking lot, one could see that the nearest fairways were not in prime shape, with large burnt areas visible. The gentleman at the counter seemed oblivious to my questions regarding the course conditions. The tees were needed leveling and some TLC. The fairways were hard, with sparse grass conditions on numerous holes. The sand traps were in generally good condition (for those that I personally experienced). Greens, for the most part, were extremely hard (needing water) and difficult to keep the ball from rolling excessively once landed, along with uneven surfaces which caused long putts to bounce. Pace was great for the front 9, but was noticeable slower for the back 9. Value was about parr for the poor conditions. Unless you get a good deal and understand the current playing conditions, I would recommend you consider a different course, at least until such time as The Foothills management restores this course to its former glory.
Room for improvement
Played the course a few yrs ago and it was beautiful, very green and lush, layout of course is fun with hills and few water holes which you don’t get a lot of in Arizona. Couple of the greens were in bad shape, fairways burned off.
With it still peak season you’d expect it to be better. Hopefully it comes good because it’s a great course for the price.
Disappointed
We had played Foothills Golf Club a few years back and had enjoyed the experience. This time however was completely different. The fairways were baked and the greens were bumpy and not in good condition. Overall the course while certainly a nice layout was not well groomed. We used Golf Now and were happy to save a little money on the green fee but we felt we were upcharged on the price for our bucket of balls. $16 for 80 balls. Ridiculous!!!
Foothills reborn
After hearing so much talk and social media about the Foothills being back and in amazing condition, we decided to book a tee time on Sunday afternoon. Pulling into the parking lot, you could see that the fairways on the holes visible were bare / yellow throughout. Not a good sign. $108 for 2:00pm in the afternoon still a little stiff. When asked about the course conditions, the front desk attended stated that since Phoenix did not have a frost this winter, the rye did not have a chance. Hmm. Not a good sign of confidence nor a direct response to the question. Nuff, said; the course had many bare spots on the fairways, dying grass, and the greens were hard as concrete. As a local, I support our courses, but will not be back to this one until the conditions continue to improve.
Course was in great shape except for the greens . Greens were very bouncy and didn’t roll smooth . Every bounce changed the direction and speed of ball . Could not make a putt do save my life . Some green were fast and some were slow . Layout of course was decent with many variation of shots needed . If green rolled better , it would have been a more enjoyable experience . Overall , one should play steady once .
Good condition great pace of play
course has i teresting holes. Great views. condition is nice except bunkers were not well prepared for daily play.
I would play here again
Decent conditions
Course is in decent shape. Greens are very hard but they roll true. Fairways have some spotty areas, tee boxes are in good shape.
Pleasant
Course layout was fun, maybe have a ranger on course to help push people along. Overall nice.
Dried up
Course looks like it hasn't seen water in awhile, very dry, cracks in the unseeded areas. The greens are like cement and impossible for an amateur golfer to hold.
Very disappointing. I get that its been a very hot spring with no rain but we have golfed several other courses that are not taking the beating this one is.
Great course, just missing a Bev cart
Easy access to water on every par 3, there are some rough spots that need a little extra care. Besides the fact there is no beverage cart (not a big deal) the course is amazing. Beautiful greens rolling real fast. I highly recommend not missing a fairway! Pace was great, not a lot of wait times as a two man behind multiple 4s
Great Course, need a Marshall
The service and the course is great. The only bad thing is there are no a marshall to keep peace of play. We play 4 Hourse and 20 minutes and only get to ply 15 holes. We were eaiting all tje time a lot a of grouos together.
Solid Course & Conditions
Had a good round this past Friday at the Foothills golf club.
Staff is always on point and super courteous. Of course has come a long way over the last year and a half and very much improved.
Very good pace of play for Friday morning and course was in pretty good condition all around even considering the heat the last couple of weeks. Keep up the good work guys!
Solid course
Great course with some length and hazards well placed. Greens need a lot of work as they all have a ton of sand on them, especially on the front nine near the cups - putting was brutal with sand hills on greens. Tee boxes are very average but fairways are very nice. Great staff, snack bar, grille and views.
Foothills golf course beautiful
Wonderful day of golf at a beautiful golf course with a very attentive staff, made you feel very much at home
