Foothills Golf Club

I’ll give a very upfront review - the course will be great in about 2-3 months. I’m someone that tries to not break the bank playing & am an Arizona native, born & raised. This course is not as bad as Golden Hills or a Kokopelli but it’s certainly no Biltmore or Troon/other desert style courses. The front 9 was pretty good, I’d say 7/10. You can tell they were aerated recently but the grass had grown a bit to where the fairways were not bad. Greens were rolling true & really good, which is ALWAYS a struggle for these cheaper arizona courses. The back 9 was really bad though, greens were still fantastic but it was obvious they had aerated more recent than the front 9 as you were playing over rough lies & wheel lines. Honest assessment: if you are wanting to save money but still be challenged in terms of course layout, this is the right course. If you’re looking to have great lies in the fairways great lies, then wait a few more months before playing here. Truthfully, excited to see this course with a little more time, it used to be a phenomenal course but has fallen off over the past few years. I think the potential is there but will be a matter of how they work with the fairways in the coming months.

Over the years I have played The Foothills Golf Course, many times, However, with the many changes in the course management. The course condition has falling into a total mess, most fairways especially back nine are under renovation, The greens are the only thing that are in great condition. If I had been made aware of this before booking my tee time I would have booked at another course.

The greens were in good shope but the fairways were recently plugged and somewhat dried out

I was extremely disappointed when I arrived. Number 9 and 10 are visible from the parking lot. I could see a lot of dirt and dead grass in those 2 fairways. Also, They had recently punched the fairways. The entire course was the same.The greens were very nice. They were really fast and putted true. It would have been nice to know about the course conditions when looking it up on Golf now. I drove an hour to get there and was ready to leave after the first hole.

Conditions of course were flat out bad! No grass in fairways all over course. No mention from

Pro shop either of how bad conditions were. Price should of been 1/2 of

The course is currently undergoing aeration and is diffucult to play. Some of the fairways are currently torn up as a result. Greens are dried out and have patches of dirt.

The fairways were in horrible condition. The tee boxes and greens were awesome. The staff is fantastic. The course is beautiful other than the torn up fairways. Many fairways were burnt up and also had been aerated.

Was in the middle of the aerating fairways, which makes the conditions understandably less than desirable. Greens were immaculate. Was no starter therefore people were taking off whenever they felt which made it a little bit more of a pressured experience as everybody was 10 off at the same time. Overall great experience with the exception of what was stated above.

The staff was great! The course conditions were terrible. Not a lot of green grass on the course unless you are on the green. Tee boxes, rough, and fairways are not in great shape. A few of the fairways looked like a sand box. The course layout is great, just wish the rest of the course was in better shape.

Overall good experience, fairways were horrible dead patches everywhere. Staff in clubhouse were very friendly .

I have not played here in about a year and I was hoping for better after being taken over by a new management company but I was disappointed again. The greens were in much better condition than the last time I played. The fairways were atrocious and I had to move my ball to find grass.

Played with a couple of people who have never golfed before, and another single digit handicap and both skill levels had a great time. If you aren't the best golfer, as long as you play ready golf, there were do issues with pace of play. New ownership has done a great job with the revised layout and keeping the course in good condition. Love this course and will definitely come back

Not the course we used to know. Staff was great inside and out. The course itself was horrible 85-90% dirt everywhere, non-existent fairways. Foothills in bad shape that will take a miracle to fix this summer. This is currently a $25 course at most.

We played here yesterday, and the fairways were atrocious, no grass they were dirt. One of the worst courses that I’ve played in the last two years as far as conditions. The course layout is great and I’ve played this course for the last 20+ years. They need to do something. I don’t know if they don’t have water for their fairways. But it was really bad. Greens were fine, but pretty slow. And pace a play was a little slow as well. But I won’t be back here again until they figure out on how to actually have grass in their fairways.
