About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Narrow and overcrowded as usual
This place is always overcrowded and very narrow. I would not recommend this course being so many great courses in Vegas, this one sucks!
Fairways were good greens were good. The rest of the course looks unkept. The cart paths are ridiculous. Like you could injure yourself on them. The bunkers are embarrassing. Rocks everywhere no sand. All of the bunker rakes are borderline broken. The driving range is absolutely terrible. Golf balls look like they’re 10 years old. They might hook,slice and explode all in the same shot. The mats are hard as rock. I suggest teeing up on a small plastic tea and under no circumstances hitting down on it. It’s like there’s concrete directly underneath the carpet. Golf cart made a whining noise the whole time. Obviously there was no GPS on it. For $135 I would expect a little more. The resident rate of the guy who played with me was like 50 bucks or $60 something. I would strongly recommend this course for $50.

Bumpy Ride
If you are going to golf Painted Desert you should probably be prepared for a "rocky" ride. The cart paths are treacherous and some patches of cement are completely missing. In addition, I hope you don't get stuck in the sand traps as they should be called gravel pits instead.

A course that actually has grass!
My fiance and I come here all the time and drive across town because the greens and fairways are not dead and spotted. The layout is simple and the green roll very good as we play early in the day. Only downside is the bunkers having some bigger rocks and some parts of cart path are a little older but honestly you can’t find a much better course so play and practice to get better for the price.

Friendly staff. Good condition.
Tee boxes were good. Greens had a lot of ball marks since golfers don’t know how to repair. No gps on cart but don’t really need it. Geese are a little annoying with their waste on course.

Greta course that was a lot of fun
I have seen this course many times on golfnow and always skipped it but, this trip I gave it a try and really liked it. If the conditions were slightly better I would give it a 5 but, for a mini it is great, layout is very fun, fairways are narrow so watch out.

Course needs to be maintain a little better.
I used to love this course, The greens are not maintain very well. I used to love this course. It was my home course now I’d rather play los Prados which their greens are nicer and it’s cheaper.

Value golf in an overpriced market
I played an enjoyable round of golf at Painted Desert on Sunday, April 5. My $89 green fee from GolfNow included a small bucket of balls for the driving range & a power cart. In the overpriced Las Vegas golf market, where Shadow Creek costs $1250 to play, the Wynn is $800, Serket is $500, & the three courses at Paiute are pushing $300 a round, an $89 green fee (including range balls & power cart) is nice to find in Vegas, especially on a Sunday. Yes, the driving range needs tender, loving care. Yes, the golf balls at the driving range are worse than in terrible condition. Yes, the greens are hard as rock, but nonetheless fast and true. Yes, the fairways have patchy spots on them & are hard as rock in places. But it’s the reality of a golf course where water restrictions apply. My big beef with the Painted Desert are the sand bunkers. They might as well just have pavement. Because the sand is hard as pavement. Impossible to hit out of several of them. But with a three hour and 45 minute round, and the cost of playing the course, one should not complain (although I just did). If you have a rental car, and don’t mind driving to Northwest Las Vegas, this is a golf course you should play.

Good course. Would recommend.
Course itself was in very good condition. Greens rolled well. Tee boxes and fairways were in good condition. Bunkers, especially in the fairway were in pretty rough condition. Cart paths also in need of attention. But overall a nice course, good value and will play again.
