The Shark's turned in what's widely regarded as the second-toughest course at PGA WEST - Greg Norman Course in La Quinta.

No small feat considering the developers of the neighboring TPC Stadium ordered Pete Dye to make it, "the hardest damn golf course in the world."

"There's a difference," said Jack Guevera, a golfer who's played both. "You might think you have it easy if you play the Norman after the Stadium .... But probably not."

Here's the difference: Dye tries to kill you at TPC Stadium. Norman only wants to beat you to a pulp.

Not that pummeling does not have its highlights. Norman's 216-yard, par-3 13th is the kind of hole that seizes your attention and lingers in memory after the round.

What little fairway there is curves around toward a man-made lake. It is also tilted down on a sharp angle to the water, giving the golfer the effect of hitting along a ledge.

Each shot is a tap dance here. You could not even get odds in Vegas on your chances of avoiding all of the deep, slanted bunkers that squeeze the mini fairway even tighter.

Nice course

Maybe not as visual or demanding as other PGA west courses, but, the million sand traps does pose challenges for shot selection. The course is in excellent shape, the service is exceptional, practice facilities as good as they come. Good value as some of the lesser courses in the area charge more.

Staffs are so nice

After long time pause of using Golf Now, I found a great hot deal at Greg Norman’s course, the manager there could not believe how much I got out of the deal but horned my hot deal price which I greatly appreciated. The starter Bob knows my coming and paired me with the twosome at earlier tee time. Enjoyed good round even though we had to fight to a gusty wind. Course in great condition and greens were even but fast and tough.

Not the most exciting layout, would probably not choose different course to play on. GolfNow rate was probably accurate but paying full value for this course would not be worth it
