PGA WEST Greg Norman Course
About
The Shark's turned in what's widely regarded as the second-toughest course at PGA WEST - Greg Norman Course in La Quinta.
No small feat considering the developers of the neighboring TPC Stadium ordered Pete Dye to make it, "the hardest damn golf course in the world."
"There's a difference," said Jack Guevera, a golfer who's played both. "You might think you have it easy if you play the Norman after the Stadium .... But probably not."
Here's the difference: Dye tries to kill you at TPC Stadium. Norman only wants to beat you to a pulp.
Not that pummeling does not have its highlights. Norman's 216-yard, par-3 13th is the kind of hole that seizes your attention and lingers in memory after the round.
What little fairway there is curves around toward a man-made lake. It is also tilted down on a sharp angle to the water, giving the golfer the effect of hitting along a ledge.
Each shot is a tap dance here. You could not even get odds in Vegas on your chances of avoiding all of the deep, slanted bunkers that squeeze the mini fairway even tighter.
"Greg Norman wants you to choke," TravelGolf.com West Coast Bureau Chief Chris Baldwin said. "The supremely-talented, enthrallingly-entertaining golfer cursed to be forever remembered for his excruciating collapses wants the average hacker to experience just a taste of this misery."

Golfer Reviews
Great course
Overall excellence experience. Course was in great condition. Very interesting layout. Penal in some cases but overall played very fair for a bogey golfer. My wife played as well and the different tees makes it comfortable for any skill level.
Great conditions, no gps
Course is in great shape. Pace is solid. You’d think for $200 you’d get cart gps (the other PGA West course had it). That’s the only downside though. I’d play here again.
WOW
What a great course with great staff!! Course is challenging but amazing
Bunkers, Bunkers, Bunkers
Okay, this course has more bunkers than any course I have ever played. Now saying that, I only ended up in three, although they were all on the same hole, haha.
I will definitely be back to play this course again.
Best Deal in Coachella Valley
Perfect for a golfer who can stand the heat and wants to play a PGA style golf course for cheap. Place was empty and conditions were great.
Greg Norman pga course
Great course in excellent condition. Amenities were amazing!
course in great shape
course in great condition and greens rolled very true. Some dry areas on course but that is to be expected in June (100 degree) heat. always happy to play the Norman course on my annual June trip.
Four stars because the greens aren’t back yet, a little slow, but they run OK
Beautiful scenery and beautiful golf course
The course is beautiful and it showcases the mountain backdrops of Coachella Valley.
Plenty of well -maintained bunkers and plush fairways make this a top choice in the Palm Springs / La Quinta area.
The greens were slow but otherwise excellent.
The pace was 4 hours 20 minutes. That was for my group using 3 different tee boxes, in 105 degree heat. Plenty of water and ice was available through out the course.
A great afternoon.
