Pleasantly surprised
Played on a very sunny day where my course was fully booked so I chose Ormeau instead Pleasantly surprised to be playing off the turf. My course is still off mats! Course in good condition with preferred lies in rough. Was held up at a few holes for a few moments due to how busy it was but course was in great shape and well worth the money. Would recommend. Only slight annoyance is because the course is only 9 holes you require a second tee time for the 2nd 9 holes which is given 2 hours after your original tee time but it doesn’t take 2 hours to go round 9 holes so you may have a 20-30 min wait to tee off.
Playing in Wet Season
This course was a nice little 9 hole tucked away in the busy south Belfast area, in relative terms to where it is in the city and the price value I think this is a great course that can sometimes prove more challenging as you have a busy park on one side, and one of the busiest roads in Belfast on the other, forcing you to play short on some holes and really think about your game, I played during wet pre season but the course was being kept in great condition ahead of summer, had a great time playing 18 here by myself
Great Value!
For a 9 hole course it has everything you need, tricky shots requires great accuracy, long and short par threes and great par 4s. For the price it is exceptional value for money!
Ormeau golf club
Greens were in excellent condition along with good fairways excellent course all round would highly recommend
Underrated
1st time playing Ormeau.
A lovely course with some challenging holes, overall I would say it's harder than first impressions, with lots of trees overhanging to make challenging shots.
Disappointed
After playing 9 holes, we were made to wait 20 minutes while 3 groups of members teed off at the first before we could resume play.
Apparently, the rule is that you can only tee off your 2nd 9 holes, 2 hours after the first?
I’d expected to take turn about with others who were just starting their round but instead, we had to wait while 7 others teed off before we could play the 10th.
Wasn’t happy to be honest.
Is this normal practice for a 9 hole course?
Really nice well kept course
Fantastic 9 holes before work in the mornings.
Those two guys (green keepers) do a terrific job keeping the course and greens in order. Really nice guys as well. Good job 👏
Disappointed
At a decent chunk of money for a 9 hole course, I was vastly disappointed.
I recently played there on a semi-rainy day. Most of my play was not raining although it previously had been.
I asked on arrival if the course was okay to play on and was assured it was. 2 of the greens were completely flooded and therefore unplayable, the course was like a bog on many holes and the holes were all flooded. This to me should not have been playable and no bookings should have been taken.
The fairways on some of the holes were also not great.
Feedback for the club, either investing in drainage relief to make the course more playable when it’s rained or have the decency to close the course instead of letting people play what ended being a 4 hole course.
Unfortunately I won’t be back which is a shame as it’s very handy to me. I also in the current state wouldn’t recommend it to a friend and would more likely discourage them from playing
I very rarely leave a review but I think the club need the feedback because for £23 it was really not worth the money
Great condition
First time I’ve played ormeau in a year or so.
Given how wet it’s been- greens in excellent condition, rolling well and fast.
Fairways firm and well kept.
Would play again, that said always backed up in places owing to layout
Very enjoyable and challenging despite the slow play!
My wife and I booked, as visitors via Golf Now, to play 18 holes on this mature 9 hole course. Play on the first 9 was a bit slow but acceptable. We assumed that players would alternate off the 1st and the 10th in the usual way but had to wait for 35 minutes after our first 9 while a small society teed off. We were about to tee off on the 10th when one of a pair of golfers who had just come off the 9th approached us and announced that they were playing through as they were in a club match. They then called after the four young lads who had just teed off and asked them to stand aside as club matches have priority!!?? Play became painfully slow so that we gave up after 15 holes. Hopefully other visitors don’t have the same experience!
Fantastic little course
Great little course. Very friendly staff . Great food afterwards.
