Very scenic
A fun course, it’s super hilly mind so be prepared, the views are amazing as you’re so high up.
The sheep roam free on the course so expect there to be poo about nothing crazy though £19 for a Sunday tee time, cannot complain and it wasn’t that busy.
Take plenty drinks around with you if it’s warm
Challenging course lots of long grass about so if you’re bang average at best like me take plenty of balls 😂
The staff were very helpful and friendly and we really enjoyed the 18 holes. The course was challenging with quite a few blind holes and the greens were in great condition.
Everyone really friendly and a nice atmosphere around the course with fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
It's definitely one to play in the nice weather and we will be returning soon.
Quirky, old school with lots of character
We played in perfect weather, I should imagine this isn't funny in bad weather. Highest course the the Uk and I'm not arguing. Wonderful views in all directions and a few tough walks.
Don't expect a course manicured to an inch of its life, it is nor. Its wild and woolly hill top golf. Sheep roaming free too. That said, conditions were good and for the money, you can't beat it.
Some really interesting holes, some a less so, but special mention to a great stretch of holes 6th to 9th. 14th in is a great stretch too. 17th is as good a par 3 as you'll see for miles around. Green tucked away in a natural bowl.
Had a warm welcome in the clubhouse. Enjoyed a beer on the veranda overlooking the 18th green. Smashing folk.
Course is quite unusual by modern standards. But you have to play it because it's unusual. Think Cleeve Hill/Painswick characterful and you'll understand.
Got a great deal on this site too.
Unbelievable views and amazing gem of a course
First of all this course was amazing value! very challenging but rewarding course to play with amazing views of the valley. I loved how rugged the course felt, with sheep and really natural obstacles and hazards. Very well maintained, I played when it wasn't very good weather and still had a great time, cant wait to come back and play it on a sunny day! Loved the vibe in the bar and the lady working there was exremely friendly - even offering to use her tumble dryer to dry our jumpers out.
Great experience
Played a 3 ball today. Great
Course, the staff in the club house were extremely welcoming. The club captain introduced himself and gave us a warm welcome. Will be playing again
Well worth a visit
First time playing West Mon
Made to feel very welcome on arrival, with great information about the course and how it was playing. Course was in great condition, the members playing were very helpful and friendly with a few directions on some of the blind holes plus offering advice on others. The views around the 18 holes are stunning. Back to the club house where we received our certificates for playing the highest course in the UK ( nice touch) and a couple of well earned pints.
Thank you we’ll be back
Unique golf course
Love this golf course. Its not the best manicured but greens, tees and fairways are always in great condition.
For me its got the best set of par3s on any of the 90+ courses Ive played. Views are spectacular and exceptional value.
A great "links" but inland
Fantastic 18 holes at West Mon. Staff and members sit friendly and helpful on arrival. Course play like a links but is 1000 feet up. Even after the long dry the course was in excellent nick - fairways tight but greens were "green" and true. After 4 holes I'd caught up with a pair in front, but I needn't have worried as I got called through immediately. In all I got called through 4 times, meaning pace of play was great- just a few minutes over 3 hours. I'd thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a "links" experience but not at P&K or Southerndown prices. If I lived 15 miles nearer I'd be joining
West Monmouthshire Golf Course
On arrival the temperature is a few degrees different to other courses as for its highest tee accolade. The course is links like with some stunning 360 views. Course in is great condition with the greens running around 6-8, which are nicely kept. It can be windy but that is the test of a good golfer. Some nice challenging holes but with some to have birdie chance on. Clubhouse is nice with good food and reasonable prices for a pint. Well worth a visit to anyone who loves golf
Great course.
This is a wonderful course with some amazing views it’s a bit of a walk especially in the wind up the hills. The greens are in fantastic condition.
Great all round course
Greens are very good, lovely course and great views all around, well worth the money
Had a great day out hitting some balls with my mate
Had a great day out hitting some balls with my mate

Highly recommended
West Monmouthshire
First time playing there certainly not disappointed WOW
An inland Links course in wales with stunning views on every hole and the 17th wouldn’t look out of place on an Open course
Real hidden gem
I can’t believe I had missed this course for so long. Discovered it in this app and looked it up. Looked incredible and there are a few YouTube videos giving you an idea but it’s much better than the videos. It’s wonderful. Like a proper links course in the sky with incredible views and that links turf feel.
Everyone was incredibly friendly, golfers, staff and other dogs. Yes, I said dogs. Dogs are allowed if on a lead, not on greens, in bunkers or hazards of course and it goes without saying you must use a poo bag if it happens.
I will be coming back with friends and I want to try it on a windy day too as that’ll be a fantastic challenge.
Challenging
Well, to say it’s a challenging course is an under statement. Winds were 30 to 40 mph, which made some holes for my ability unplayable. There is no hiding place from the wind. Lots of sheep roaming around freely from green to green. Poo in abundance.
I know the Geeenkeepers have to do their job, but on one hole the keeper was watering the putting service, when I eventually got my ball on the green, it took me three putts to hole it, not due to my putting ability, but for shear amount of water on the green which prevented my ball from going anywhere.
I gave up on the 13th, as the wind was to much.
It’s a difficult place to find. If you’re walking the course is very steep in places.
BUT saying all the above I would still like to complete a round with more favourable weather. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. If you be play there, hole 11 par 3 is a monster.
Fantastic for the time of year.
The course and greens are in fantastic condition for the time of year and weather we have seen the last few months. Would really recommend this course it’s a bit of a challenge to walk but well worth the effort.
