Disappointed
Winter mats
9 hole

Didn't enjoy this course. Won't be going back. Winter T in effect should be clearly marked at point of booking - 0 rain for weeks and it's the start of October. First club I've seen running winter mats this early.
I didn't see that's it's a 9 hole that's plays twice - could have been clearer - Disappointed with the experience. Felt Expensive even at the £27 I paid.
Excellent 9 hole course
9 hole course with slightly different tees but nothing overly different.
Course is always in excellent conditions when I've played it.
Starts with 2 long par 4s and then becomes more gettable.
It makes good use of space it does have however does crossover in sections.
Very disappointing
Advised 18 holes with two courses online and through GOLFNOW yet it’s a 9 hole course that was very difficult to navigate as the club wasn’t open in time (8:52 tee off) for a score card/course map. The signs on the course are non existent so made it difficult to find the next hole
Course itself was mediocre, and very hilly with winter tees on every hole. Most holes cross with others and you have to be very wary as we had to stop and wait for others to play across our hole
All in all a very poor experience and will not be returning as £25PP for 9 holes in that condition is poor
Blackwood Golf Course
The course was in great condition. Its a dry course underfoot. Greens are good. It's a course where being long gets you in a lot of trouble as there are steep drop offs behind the greens. It's not a flat course especially the 7th if you are short. Wayward drives/shots on 3rd, 7th and 9th can leave your score in real trouble as I found out. Would still definitely recommend it unless you like flat, even gold courses. It is on the hill side after all.
Great course
A really well maintained curse, great greens, tight and fast. It's just a little short and missing another 9 holes.. I'd definitely play there again.
Great
Greens were lovely, fairways well cut nice 9 hole course
Good track
Course in very good condition for this time of year, staff friendly, excellent deal!
Green keeper ruined a half decent course
Booked through the app a tee time where i arrived around 30/40 minutes before to have a practice and tell the lady who worked there my tee time and get a scorecard.
As we approached the practice area we were approached by the greenkeeper questioning why we were here and if we were members. I thought a simple explanation of booking through the app would have been enough.
This was not the case. He repeatedly said it was only members on a sunday and requested that i show him our booking to which i did 3 times. He then looked us up and down to what we were wearing and still questioned our booking.
He said as we were not members that we cant go until 2 other groups booked behind us have been. This was ridiculous as we were ready to play and the one group was waiting for a friend driving from 30 mins away.
We let the one group through but were not going to be delayed any longer due to an error on either golf now or blackwood golf club.
This left us rushing when playing the 1st of 9 holes then When playing the holes around the clubhouse leaving us uncomfortable.
0/10 for welcoming players to the club but the course was pretty decent for 9 holes
Cheers
Good value 👏
Nice course with some challenging holes and greens. Staff very friendly both on site and in the clubhouse. Nice views too. Would recommend.
Great golf course
Great 9 hole golf course. Playable in all weathers, never seems to be boggy. Great work by the groundskeepers.
Some members don’t like outsiders playing there I don’t think
Blackwood
Course in great condition depths of winter and it played very well. Greens were excellent. Will definitely play again. Couldn't find any staff the place appeard closed.
Great course
Well maintained course, we’ve had continuous rain before we played and the ground was very dry with hardly any water holding!
Nice well kept 9 hole course,
Some nice holes on this course so no problem playing the 9 holes twice, unfortunate that staffing problems meant no bar or even access to pro shop on the day.
Enjoyable round of golf.
Course in fantastic condition.
Course was in fantastic condition. Very fast greens proved a welcomed challenge. Only draw back is 9 holes. Would deffo play again!
Winter Wonderland
I can't taste Blackwood enough. I've played here many times, and I've never been disappointed by the condition of the course.
To start with, the last 2 times I've played through golf now, I've received a courtesy call before teeing off. So thoughtful! This call was just to make me aware that there was winter greens. Which I'm fine with.
The course, despite it being -6 overnight was in great nick! The winter greens weren't made up of the usual scuffed fairways, but had been thoughtfully placed.
The only downside was I couldn't get a tee in the ground, so take some tees on a string 👍🏻
Pleasantly Surprised and would recommend.
First time playing this course and will definitely play again. I was sceptical of it being a 9 hole course. For this time of year, the greens were of a v high standard. Soft and spongy to walk on; fast to putt on and the ball sticks from distance. I hit a rescue from around 215 yards on the hole alongside a practice area (i think 6th) and it's pitched the green and finished maybe 8 feet from where it pitched. Although only 9 holes, they're all varied and thought needs to be given to club selection on each tee shot. A true hidden gem and would recommend it to anyone.
An unnecessary poor rating. It’s a 9 hole course but is played twice for the fee. The 9th and 1st fairways cross and you need to talk from the 4th green across the 2nd fairway to reach the 5th hole. This is all shown on the course card which is available on the clubs website if the club house is closed.
