Excellent greens with demanding approach shots required, some green are blind second shots , some big climbs if pushing a trolley but well worth a visit , also great views,
Beautiful Course.
This is a beautiful course that really challenges the average golfer. The only downside was when we arrived for our tee time we were told that we couldn’t get on the course for another hour? We were told that Golf Now bookings didn’t go through the club. So our advice would be to always check with the club even if you make a booking on GN page. The people out on the course were lovely and allowed us to play through so we didn’t get caught behind a large party and weren’t delayed any further.
A gem!
Great course. Good challenging layout. Great view of the Brecon Beacon Mountains all around. Well maintained. Staff and members are ever so friendly.
Beautiful view
Returned to play for a second time because of the great view. The course was an old natural course so can be rather naturally rocky at parts. Challenging layout. Some crossovers of fairways where one need to watch out for dangers. Staff and members were extremely helpful and friendly.
Excellent greens
Some lovely holes, even if a bit undulating, on the front nine. The greens were in superb condition. Well done greens staff. Great welcome and food in the club house aw well.
Excellent course
Wonderful panoramic views, course in great condition with immaculate greens. Quite tiring for us old 'uns but worth all the effort. Will definitely be going back
Good course when not too busy
Great course for all levels. Greens in good condition. A few fairways are crossovers or too close to each other without clear separation treelines. Therefore can be dangerous if the course is busy. It was fortunately not the case on our day of play there. Good value for money though.
Great views
On arrival we were greeted in the Pro shop by being told the tee time we booked was unavailable because Golf now never contacts the club to reserve the time, we were told we would have to tee off 30 minutes later than the time booked. I didn’t think the greeting was handled professionally and I was made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by the manner of the staff member.
Having waited to play it was well worth while the course was in excellent condition and members on the course made us feel very welcome. Some fantastic views across parts of the Brecon national park and Merthyr.
Fantastic challenge
Course is a really good challenge with some fantastic tee positions that make golfers of all levels stop and think. Staff and members are so friendly and welcoming. Only played twice in winter but will be back in the summer.
Ok but that’s about it
An ok course, very busy but that’s ok, mud all over fairways and members were a bit stand off. Not for me thanks.
Winter Golf at Morlais Castle
Considering time of year and course bordering Breacon Beacons. Obviously course not at its best, but a really enjoyable fourball. Most holes give choice of winter tee or grass. Greens really good for winter.
Friendly pro shop and great Club staff. Not the first visit here and definitely not the last. A must to visit if in the area.
Great course
Really enjoyed playing the course, good condition with great greens. Will definitely play again
