A course with a view
Great course, excellent condition, the people are very friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend.
Great course
It’s a great course but there was a few stuff they could have done to improve it better signs , Get better drainage and a little information to say the course is changed a little for winter
Hidden Gem
This course is a real hidden gem! Exceeded expectations and will be playing there again soon.
Best Greens
A fab course with some of the best greens in South Wales. Always a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back to play it again.
Fab Course
Lovely mountain course. Quite a linksy feel to the front 9, with a more parkland back 9. Greens were very true. A nice mixture of holes. Fantastic value for money.
Always happy to return.
I was a junior member here 50 years ago when it was a 9 hole course and I love going back for a round.
The "new" holes are now mature and a bit more conventional than the original nine. However I still prefer the quirkiness of the old 9 despite the fact that the 1st and the 9th share a fairway and a couple of holes cross each other.
Like most courses Bargoed had suffered from the recent extremely dry conditions but it was still an enjoyable experience.
When we played (Monday pm) the office and bar was closed and there didn't appear to be much in the way of catering. There doesn't appear to be a pro shop either. Probably better to book and pay in advance.
A real gem
Thoroughly enjoyed the round at Bargoed GC. Course is in great condition, lovely firm greens that roll true. Yardages on the card / markers out on the course seemed a little generous at times, we found ourselves over-clubbing on a few occasions. But cannot complain really for the price. The course is a bit out of the way, but definitely well worth it - you won't be disappointed. The roads leading up to the course give the impression that it might be extremely hilly, but once you get up there it is all fairly sedate rolling terrain and doesn't exhaust you like other valleys courses can.
Lovely course but a little confusing.
Course was in great condition. Greens were soft but were really quick and held up in the wet weather. Staff we great on site and memever were very friendly.
Now I know the layout of the course I will definitely return (hopefully a dry day lol).
Would recommend to all handicappers as some fairways border other fairways.
Will be back soon
Very nice course and people
I was given a very warm welcome at my car, and the warmth of the welcome remained throughout the time I was there - a really pleasant experience from the dozen or more people I met around the course and the bar. It's a good course, with plenty of variety, and it was in really good nick when I played there - on a warm, fairly still day. I came from Merthyr - no time at all - and then went home to Cardiff - a fairly easy drive. Some of these valleys courses are real hidden gems - friendly staff and members, and very good golf for a high teens handicapper - and Bargoed is definitely one of the better, pleasanter courses I've played. My only regret is I didn't discover it years ago. I'll be back - if they'll have me.
A good round of golf
Really well kept fairways and greens with a bit of variety as you go round, scored it down slightly as I'm not a fan of multiple cross over greens, can cause a bit of a que. but would recommend
Excellent course
Having played course for first time this weekend I'd definitely plan to play again. Excellent fairways and greens and those members we spoke to were friendly and welcoming.
