The Groves Golf and Country Club
About
Surrounded by 200 acres of carefully preserved wetlands, the Groves Golf & Country Club offers championship golf in a spectacular setting. It sits conveniently just 20 minutes north of Tampa in Land O Lakes. Maintaining the natural beauty of the landscape was a top priority when designing the golf course, which is why the layout manages to seamlessly blend into the surroundings. The course, which measures 4,026 yards, offers all of the challenging qualities of a championship-length course but can be played in four hours or less. The player-friendly golf course offers something for all skill levels whether you are a scratch golfer looking for a quick round, or a beginner looking for some challenging practice. In addition to the course, The Groves also boasts a unique aqua driving range as well as putting and chipping greens.

The Groves
Course was in great shape, too bad it was cart path only
Good course
The course was in good shape, greens were good but slow. Pace of play was bad, one foursome held the course and won’t let people play through.
Never again!
Used to be one of my favorite courses, always great conditions, great staff and a fair price. NOW the course is almost unrecognizable! Fairways are mostly sand and a small amount of tightly mowed grass. I know we have been in a bad drought but no other course in the area Ive played looks nearly this bad. The fairways were just awful on most of the holes and the greens while a beautiful green color are like shag carpet. Greens have not been rolled so your ball bounces gently all the way toward the hole breaking in multiple directions and draining speed making it tough to get the ball to the hole. And the worst part, they are charging $59 to play this course!!!! Conditions have crashed while the price has soared. Won’t be back
First time out here
This course has a fun and challenging layout. But the fairways were torn apart here, they definitely need to be doing more maintenance and I noticed quite a few patches of moisture damage throughout the course. We've just recently started getting rain again coming off of a drought, hopefully they can get some more of the fairways up to speed soon.
Great round
Course was in good shape with some fairway spots fraught damaged. The greens were good as were the tee boxes. Greens were a little slow due to higher grass.
Nice course but many fairways very rough
We had a nice time playing but it’s important to note that many fairways are in poor condition…lots of bare spots and sand. The greens are in excellent shape while the tee boxes were average at best. Pace was slow for the front 9 as we were behind slow groups executing a couples tournament, but back 9 was fast. Overall, we had a great time but be aware of some condition issues.
My favorite short course!!!
Love the place well kept, good food, great Staff, highly recommended!!!
Teens
Do not come here if you are a teenager. Only course I have ever seen that doesn’t let you drive a cart unless you are 18. Terrible.
Sandy
I can appreciate wanting to put money into the club, but there was NO grass to hit off! Should have discounted the price, Restaurant staff was awesome.
Terrible
Heard good things about the course but was extremely disappointed. Tee boxes and fairways were all sand and dirt. Greens were aerated and sanded, no heads up or discount for this. Not worth the price at all, this is a $25 course at best
Nice
Better than most courses around. I know the drought is beaten everybody up though, but they handle it pretty well.
Well Manicured
Short courses can often feel like some of the holes were just added to fill some space, that's not the case at Silverthorn . Fun track, no par 5's, but plenty of trouble and definitely many risk reward opportunities. Tee to green, the course was well manicured, and the staff was accommodating, friendly and helpful. Had a nice meal in the café, with excellent service and fair pricing.
Kicked off the course at 630
If you book a twilight round and pay for 18, don’t expect to finish—even with plenty of daylight left. We teed off around 5:10, and despite having about an hour and a half of sunlight remaining at 6:30, we were told to pack it up on 13. Not sure how someone is supposed to get through 18 holes in an hour, they need to change the twilight rounds to 9 holes only if that’s the case. Otherwise, course was in good condition and greens rolled good but were a tad slow. You can tell they’re working to keep it in nice shape. It sucks you can’t play here any later than that in the evening.
