Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
About
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club is a Scottish links-style layout that is routed through sparkling lakes and carefully preserved conservation areas. The challenging layout features narrow tree-lined fairways and water hazards on all 18 holes. The front nine is short and tight, which contrasts nicely with the longer and more open back nine. Overall though, the golf course is not particularly long by modern standards. It is a shot-maker's course, requiring both accuracy and skilled iron play. The course has a challenging finishing hole that sums up the best elements of the course. This par-4 is a sharp dogleg right with a slew of bunkers and a pond to reckon with. The hole borders a nature preserve, making it the prettiest and most challenging hole on the course.

Why Haven't I Played It Before?
I have been in Tampa for 48 years and this is the first time I have played this course. I have passed it many times and noted how interesting it looks. Now I know and I won't be a stranger!
Well Maintained
The course was in very good condition, including the rough. The green had been aerated two weeks prior to my round and were a little bumpy but should be fine in another week or two. Lots of water so controlling your tee shot is critical.
Hot Day Tampa Style
I was lucky enough to get out alone Thursday. Which is exactly what I needed going through sciatic issues. Quick round of golf on a hot Tampa afternoon was in order. Track was in great condition from tee to green. I can’t speak for all sets of boxes but the black box was like standing on carpet. Some great shots and a 59 foot bird will bring me back to those conditions. Looking forward to my next round. A shout out to Ricky in the pro shop who gave me some course direction. Great day! Thank you
Simply AWESOME
This track is in excellent playing condition. Always relying on accuracy, wonderful course.
Tampa Bay County Club
Challenging layout it’s a position based golf course. It’s in great shape.
Leave the Driver in the bag
We enjoyed our 1st round on this course. When the starter met us in the parking lot to tell us we could head out he also gave us a few pointers about the course.
The first being that its target golf. Find the 150 post and hit whatever gets you in that range. As a 65 yr old bogey golfer my avg drive is in the 200 to 225 range and thats still too much from the white tees. Those markers are in the widest and safest parts of the fairways. Anything beyond that is at your own risk. Trouble both left and right awaits even marginally off center drives. Hit what gets you 190-200 max and you'll be fine. The par 3s are very challenging from the white tees and more manageable from the yellow. Greens were fast with subtle breaks around the cup.
Pace of play was great until we hit the back 9 where we caught up with a 2some that teed off an hour ahead of us. We were told by members that this elderly 2some play 7 days a week and are in no hurry. Good on them but just beware if you come up on them your day will screech to a halt. We'll be back for sure and will play the course much different next time.
Great as always
Im happy to drive 45 minutes to play this course. Tee boxes, fairways always mint. Greens mint! The course is very challenging with water hazards. Just bring along a few extra balls.
Target Golf
I have to say the course was in great condition and the staff was very friendly. The course isn’t overly difficult. It is basically an entire round of target golf. Look for the 150 marker and aim there. Not overly long or difficult. They didn’t have a cart person on the day I went which was pretty disappointing. I would recommend the course but it isn’t anything overly spectacular.
We played only the back 9 as the Front 9 had a tournament going on and was backed up when we started and when we made the turn to the 1st hole.
While there was only one group ahead of us when we went back to the 10th hole we comfortably played to the 15th. At this point we were approached from behind and scolded by an unhappy 81 year old man who told us he played there every day and we didnt not make the turn.
We quietly moved ahead of the foursome, who were all smiles and friendly, in front of us, skipping 16 and completed 17 and 18 without any complaints, although the 81 year old man glared at us as we drove by.
The course was wonderful and we had a thourouly wonderful day even with Mr. Grumpy.
Challenging Course
Fairways and teenagers were in great shape. Greens were recently punched. Course was a ghost town after 12:00pm. Finished round just under 4 hrs.
Wow excellent place
This course is nicest course I’ve been to in this entire area I mean the fairway are nicer than some greens at other courses. I won’t be playing anywhere except for here that’s how nice this place is,
Very well maintained course
Overall positive experience. Course was in very good condition especially given the drought impact on almost all the courses in the area. Greens were a bit slow, but rolled well and very playable. Driving range was “mats only” but the cost of balls was more reasonable than most places around here. Overall, I would recommend this course and will play again when time allows.
Amazing golf course.
In perfect condition given the dry season we’ve experienced. The greens and fairways are excellent. It's one of my favorite courses in Tampa.
One of the Best in the area
I play a lot of courses and some are good and some are below good. Tampa Bay G&C is up there as one of the nicest well manicured, well managed and challenging courses in the area. It is pristine and though it is not long at 6000 yards, you have to pick your shots. Lots of water and narrow landing areas which makes it very challenging! I highly recommend this course.
