Best value around
I’ve now played Franklin Canyon 5+ times and it’s truly a one of a kind find. Tee times are usually abundant, it’s cheap, easy to walk, well maintained and an interesting enough layout. Even better, they have some amazing food and one of the better chicken Caesar wraps you’ll find at a course. This place is a hidden gem.
Very slow pace waiting a long time
It will be very nice to control the pace of golfers they take a long time to keep regulations of play .
Improved Course Conditions
Adam and Franklin Canyon are improving course conditions. Airaded greens and improving bunker conditions. I got a Hole In One hole 4 on 3/22. Fun course to play.
Grumpygolfer
Haven’t played here in 5or 6 years. Condition of course surprisingly good. Glad to find it still open with all 18. Some tees on par 3s reduced to dirt which seems to be an epidemic in East Bay public courses excellent greens some with challenging slope. Not long by modern standards But will challenge even the low hcp.
Unacceptable pace
A 5 hour round on a Monday at 1pm is ridiculous. No marshals on weekdays is understandable at times but it makes for a long a frustrating day when the pace is so slow.
Don't close it! Save Franklin Canyon GC!
This is a mature course with lovely holes and magnificent trees. It seems someone thinks it ought to be an RV park. Bosh. It is a good local golf course, which has nurtured and entertained generations of golfers. The RV scheme will despoil the land and water, and ruin a local landmark.
Great layout horrible conditions
Nearly $80 to play on a course they stopped taking care of years ago is shameful. Great location and layout but this course should be labeled as having unfairways as there is little to no grass left.
Layout of course is great, conditions leave a lot to be desired
The course layout is great. The course is fun, challenging, and has beautiful views. So much portential.
Unfortunately, the conditions are rough. The fairways are quite brown, to the point that finding non dirt to play off sometimes involves a ball move of several feet. The back 9 is better than the front.
Some greens are very rough too. Green, but patchy and bumpy.
Having never played, overall, I enjoyed the course. Fir the money, bit sure I would be back.
