East Course Excellent, Play West If Not a 12-15 Handicap
I really like this course, but it’s very difficult if you’re not at least a 12-15 handicap player. That said, the greens are exceptionally difficult (e.g., totally ridiculously unfair to me). Play the West course if this warming takes hold in your heart.
Blue Rock East Rocks
If you’re like me and you love grinding it out for bogey’s, this is the spot. I.E. it’s a tough track. Lots of slope and hill shapes to work with. Keep it in the fairway and you’ll be just fine
You might not get what you want.
So Golf Now Booked us on the East Course, but upon arrival, Blue Rock says, "no" their system screwed up and you are playing the West Course, no big deal eh? Well...if you play the rock you know the East side is beautiful, peaceful, and respectful. The West side is boring, loud, flat, and we always get paired with fresh out of the yard, felons. Not that felons can't golf, but they have a tendency to reload off the t-box until they are out of balls.Wife no likey, now I have to look at grump face for 5 hours. You'd think golfnow would be aware of this snafu and not have read about in a review?
Well-kept, pace not great, LOTS of weed smell.
The course was in good condition, especially for a $50 round on a weekend.
No Marshalls in site during our 5hr round. No one ahead of the weed-smoking group ahead of us, but no one to encourage them along. Maybe 5hrs is the weekend norm, but at 7am? I think the group ahead of us was stopping to prepare joints, as they were definitely one of more than one group smoking weed during play so it’s clearly tolerated. Just so you know!
I wanted to play the course for which I signed up.
The pro shop assigned us to the West course. I paid for the East course. I was told Golf Now doesn't give them the specific information regarding which course. I hadn't played the East course and had to insist. They were friendly enough but I felt slighted when I was looking forward to play the East course and was told I had to play the West. After a little back and forth, we were granted the East course. We fell into a good slot and moved right along with a fast foursome in front of us and a slower twosome behind us. We finished just under four hours. The course was in pretty good shape overall. The greens were in good shape but a difficult read. That makes it fun! The traps were about 50/50 good vs. bad. Other than that, we were all pleased with the experience.
Cheap rate doesn’t make poor customer service cool
Blue rock Springs is an overall cool municipal course. Both east and West have their charms. Generally speaking, the green fees are reasonable and that’s what you would expect for a muni. In spite of 10 days with no rain, there were still some pretty muddy conditions across the course. I had forgotten that the east course is super hilly with lots of elevation change and therefore it’s probably not a good course to walk with a push cart, especially if you’re nursing a hurt back. My biggest grievance is that when I arrived on the tee box with my playing partner, there was another group of three golfers. Without wanting to make it into a thing, I called the pro shop to get clarification because the information I had through golf now said I was exactly where supposed to be. Whoever I spoke to in the pro shop copped a serious attitude and told me that I was supposed to be on the other course, again not what the golf now reservation showed. At the end of the day we paired up with the threesome and had a totally mellow time hacking our way through the course.
Perfect
Perfect day.
Great layout
Great condition
Great dollar for dollar Friday afternoon
Still great.
The east course is very hilly. Pace of play was a little slow today, but the course was in great shape and it was well worth the money and the time. I always keep coming back because it’s great Golf.
Careful with Blue Rock (GolfNow) and your MONEY
I’d say quite a few people use GolfNow to reserve tee times and like usual we used it to book blue rock springs.
GolfNow charged me 229 bucks and unfortunately we only had 3 show. When I asked the course for a refund for our missing fourth they refused they said take it up with GolfNow.
Interestingly, GolfNow gets a small fee BUT the course collects and keeps the cash / charging me for 4 when only 3 paid is stealing!
Careful people shady!
Blue Rock is too slow even during the Week! Avoid playing if you can!
I made a 9:40am reservation on Golfnow on a Thursday 5/29/2025. I showed up in time to the first tee at 9:38am. I met a guy named Charlie and he said, “You are not playing in my group at 9:40am because I have added a fourth player. I went out by myself and it took 3 1/2 hours to play 13 holes! I quit after completing 13 because it was too slow and not fun to play golf at that pace. I complained to the pro shop and talked to the head marshal, Ishmael. He said he was very sorry several times, but didn’t offer me a refund. Extremely disappointing! Don’t play Blue Rock anymore!
