Course layout and mature trees makes it test for all abilities.
Thus course is one if the best in Leicestershire now. Keep up the great work on maintaining the course.
For £17.50 it's decent value hence the 4 starts
Not played this course for over 3 years but seeing some of the recent reviews I thought I'd try this on a twilight rate. You can see the investment that has gone into the club since I last played, new marker posts, signs to the next holes, bridges however the big let down is still the greens.
My playing partner said that they are much better than they were but the green speeds are so slow and they appear to still have some sort of disease as these are patchy and also appear a yellow colour in places, also the Tee boxes are not in the best of condition on most of the holes.
The layout of this course is still great it's such a shame that the issue with the greens is still present, I probably would be willing to come back after 4-5 days of sunny weather just to see whether the greens ran a little quicker but would not consider paying full price.
Maintenance
Course was in much better condition than previous times I’ve played. Greens on the front 9 are in good condition, didn’t play the back 9.
Fantastic course for guests
A brilliant course with a fantastic layout, greens need some work but significantly better than they have been historically!
Good course
Overall a good course. Holes are challenging yet fun. One of the par 5s is a monstrous hole which is very fun but probably should be a par 8! A fun course although some of the greens could be in better shape. There is so much active wildlife as well which is very refreshing but also scary when new to golf not wanting to hit anything! On holes 9 and 18 it is very easy to loose your ball as there are so many range balls on the fairway it’s hard to find yours! Overall a fun course which with a little improvement could be one of the best in Leicester.
Not bad for a cheap and cheerful
The course is nicely set out and has a few challenging holes. The greens on the day were not in great shape. They were hard but the grass was really long and patchy on most holes. Due to the nature of the course the standard of play wasn’t great which caused massive queues on most tees.
A wonderful course in immaculate condition
Saw the reviews below and wanted to come along and see for ourselves. The course was in immaculate condition, fairways were great and the greens rolled fast with lots of challenging slopes. The course has robotic mowers out keeping the course trim. Bunkers were sandy, with a couple of holes with water where you had to really think. After we played we grabbed a drink and a cob from the clubhouse. Food was nice and service was great! Service in the pro shop was also very good and we were allowed to play slightly earlier than our allotted time. We had a great day and the weather helped aswell! Will definitely be going back!
Awful
The course shouldnt be open.
Its like paddling.
No sign of green keeps
No work look as if done
greens full of moss
Not going back
rather play on a council course
Oh dear
The most recent review must be from the owner or a paid employee. Been playing here for over 8 years. Course is in a dreadful state and has been for the last year. Unplayable greens & bunkers. Such a shame - whoever owns this place now, they have no interest in golf. The course was always in need of improvement as most, but this has gone massively downhill. Bumped into several members on the course - none of them had anything good to say. OWNERS - sort this out asap or you’ll have nothing but an events venue left … or maybe that’s the idea, and build houses on the rest. Mmmmmh?
Course in much better state / condition than thought
Greens were in good condition , rest of course fairly good . Was a bit concerned as there’s been a lot of comments about the lack of maintenance etc . Much better than when I last played just over a year ago.
Worst Course in the county
Course condition was appalling, no care been taken at all. Difficult to sign in, pace of play awful and just a joke of a club
Awful course
First time playing in a few years and it was very disappointing to see how bad the course conditions have become. The greens were awful and virtually unplayable. At £40 green fee it is extremely overpriced which is a shame as it has got huge potential to be a good course. Significant investment into the course is needed.
Daylight Robbery
What can I say..........ive played this course every week this season because I had a membership and it's been the worst experience ever on a golf course! The tee boxes are horrendous, the fairways are like concrete ,bunkers have very little sand and the greens are a complete mix bag ,some are ok and others are terrible! (Do they even have greenkeepers?) Holes 9,10,18 and a few others around the course have range balls everywhere which is shocking, hole 10 is the worst for it! Turned the club shop into a GYM what no one uses, turned the clubhouse into a restaurant and hiked the prices for the golf course and on the points matrix ! £40 a round for a visitor, christ it isn't worth £20 ! Won't be coming back ,the owners have treated there members like mugs ! The staff are genuinely nice and you can see they are making some effort with the facilities but the whole emphasis should be on the golf course but it isn't it's just being neglected and it's a shame because it has potential!
Overpriced and under maintained
Tees and greens in a poor state of repair. Bunkers looked like they had sand in at some point but really hard and shallow.
We took 4hrs 45 for a two ball being stick behind several slow moving groups. Players behind us abandoned as we were waiting on every tee from the 3rd onwards
Nobody there to check us in so we just walked on.
Balls all around 9th, 10th & 18th from the driving range and practice area. Balls flying over the end of the range on to the 10th fairway while we were standing waiting to play our shots.
Poor and overpriced
Could be an unbelievable course with the top tracer range, course layout and clubhouse, but the course was in shocking condition. Tee boxes were in awful shape, very bare and uneven from unfilled divots, if you end up in a bunker then remember to bring your own sand and finally the greens were shocking, would have better luck putting on cobblestones. It’s a shame with the range facilities, although saying that my post round Stella was flat. Rip-off at £35 personally for the course condition I’d be unhappy paying more than £15.
