Very nice course
I enjoyed the entire experience. Staff was very accommodating. I will play again
The Hidden Gem of Metro Atlanta
There are three factors why Brown’s Mill is a hidden gem. First, the beautiful views from the #1 and #18 tee boxes to green, coupled with a handful of holes that share the view. Kind of like the nine holes Pebble Beach provides for an ocean view. The natural landscape that takes care of having to have what many private clubs need. The majority of private clubs are located in subdivisions and for a comparable aesthetic look, they require manpower and money to accomplish what Browns Mill has achieved naturally. No need for cobblestone, waterfalls, and restrooms that cost more than the aforementioned clubhouse. Second would be the layout of the golf course. For the average golfer, for the most part, it is forgiving and fair with no hole being similarly duplicated. Some would say if Browns Mill were bought out and became a country club that there is a chance it could be a PGA Tour stop. Thank goodness that is not the case. For the average golfer who loves the game doesn’t need all the glitz and glamour of a county club that range from $10,000 to north of $200,000, which isn’t even including the ballooned greens fees. Sure, Browns Mill could improve their driving range, golf carts, pace of play, and amenities inside the clubhouse. However, those are minor details for those who simply love the game of golf.
Pace of Play
Was very slow round. Took 15 minutes before I could T off at first hole. Too many walkers mixed in with us cart riders. Front 9 was cart path only. Back 9 was 90 degree rule. Had to wait 20 mins before the round just ro get a cart. Starter is very rude. Someone else was asking him a question and he snapped and looking at me even though I had not said anything. He seemed very stressed in his job. Not right to take it out on the patrons.
Slow pace
Slow pace Over booked and Marshall came up to us to say we re playing too slow as we were literally waiting for foursome ahead of us the entire round as was the foursome in front of them
What a lovely time!
Browns Mill Golf Club is one of Atlanta’s true public golf gems. The course has real history behind it, and you feel that the moment you step onto the property. George Cobb designed this course back in 1970, yeah, same dude as new East Lake set up and Augusta’s par 3 course. It’s the kind of place that reminds you what classic municipal golf is supposed to be: accessible, challenging, and deeply connected to the landscape around it.
The layout winds through towering Georgia pines and around several ponds that come into play in just the right ways. It’s a thoughtful design that rewards good shots but never feels unfair. The terrain has gentle, rolling movement that makes every hole visually interesting without being exhausting.
One thing that really stands out is the condition of the practice greens. They’re consistently excellent and roll true, which makes them perfect for dialing in your putting before a round. The driving range is also solid when it’s open, but honestly the real highlight here is the course itself.
If you’re playing Browns Mill, do yourself a favor and walk it if you’re able. The rolling terrain and peaceful setting among the pines make it one of the most enjoyable walking rounds in the Atlanta area.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a historic Atlanta course that still plays beautifully.
The Hidden Gem of Atlanta
The reason for Brown’s Mill is a hidden gem is for three reasons. The beautiful views of adjacent holes, that can be viewed everywhere from the first hole to the 18th hole and several sprinkle in between. The layout of the golf course is outstanding, forgiving, fair, with a great mix of holes. That is so good. That is a scale country club bringing it high annual dues If it was Browns Mill Country Club it would be the top golf course in Metro Atlanta. The layout is that good. It would be better manicure better amenities, and more carts small price to pay when it’s the best bargain in Metro Atlanta there is a fact to make it to hidden gym would be consideredand for those 3 fax make it be hidden gem of Metro Atlanta. Atlanta and for the price. views of adjacent holes, and for the price.
Atlanta Subs
Course greens were in great shape and it only winter. The Traps were groomed and a lot of them had new fresh sand. The staff is very friendly all around. Pace was slow , only had time to played 9 holes in 2 hrs 20 mins. It was Cart Path only, and the fairways are domint ( Feb 2026) and soggy. Drainage is about the only problem this course has after a rain. It had rain the day before. about 1/2 inch. The Temp today and day befor was around 65 degrees and partly sunny.
Course is very walkable if you choose so and pretty wide open if you mis-hit or slice a few shots. I will return to eventually play all 18 holes.
Always nice
Good course. I was worried it might be too crowded today but they did a good job of moderating it. Always fun over here.
Best public course in Atlanta
Pace of play was great. Coarse layout was very good couple of hard holes I guess which is what everybody kind of likes in really good shape overall especially considering the time of year greens were great sand traps were raked and nice very good value I'll play it again and again. Everyone was nice that was on the
course
Great for beginners
First time playing this course, I absolutely loved it. I started playing about 5 months ago and this course is great for beginners. Not too many hill or hazard but still challenging. It was wet when we played but still had a great time. Definitely going back and playing it again.
Good for the money
it were to cost anymore i would not play here. overall pretty solid
