Excellent customer service! We really enjoyed the round. Very informative chronological history of Alfred Tup Holmes in the lower level of the Pro Shop. Don’t miss this when you visit this course,. Even if you’re not playing golf, stop by to learn more about the man who played an important role in the Civil Rights Movement and the desegregation of golf courses: Alfred Tup Holmes.
Course needs work
Tee box are horrible shape
Grass clippings obscure balls in the fairway
Cart path needs attention
Great layout I played after the course had be recently cut losing balls in the fairway not good
Course was not great and I was quite disappointed because the thick cut grass clipping made it more difficult than necessary
Good test to work on your game
Course was in good shape overall. The tee boxes could use some work. The on-course restrooms were open and clean. Holes 17 and 9 are a fun challenge.
Not worth the time
course was well maintained at all, better of paying $10 more and play elsewhere
Hidden gem but.......
Always enjoy this hidden gem located inside the city. Sloping fairways with a premium of accuracy. My only point of contention are the tee boxes very hard, uneven and can't stick a tee in the ground.
Alfred Tup
It’s a good course with a good layout . Number 9 and number 17 are by far the 2 hardest holes to play(don’t be short trust me) most of the fairways were open with enough well places bunkers and hazards to make it challenging. Some of the fairways the grass was a little high. It’s not fair to hit the ball right down the middle but still in the rough. The T- boxes could use just a little TLC. The greens were in pretty good shape. The only things this course is really missing is a driving range so us over 50 players can loose. Our backs a little before we play
Good Layout but….
The course layout is good, the price is nice but the tee boxes need a lot of work….
CONSISTENCY PLEASE!
Felled trees being cleaned up after weeks. Hu-rah
Cart-path and fairway yardage markers slightly visible if you’re on top of them.
But, the limited staff can’t achieve but do much. How about……
Mowing the greens consistently
Raking the bunkers consistently
Trimming branches for clear line of sight from tee box
Placing tee markers on flat ground, which has grass
Daily course management is not too much to expect….. Even at an inner city Municipal Course
Best Deal in the City
Considering it cost 20 bucks to ride 18, this course is amazing! Decent Fairways and nice quick greens.
Just another overbooked course
Very comparable to other Atlanta municipal courses. Decent fairways with some decent tees and subpar greens. It’s nice mid summer because the heat rids off most of the crowd and a decent pace of play can be maintained.
Signs of progress in course maintenance is slow to take shape
However, two or three people attempting to groom the course for daily play, even at a municipal course is an indication of the commitment to present the course in the best light.
Trees down for weeks from storm
Trees need trimming so as not to affect reasonable shots from tee boxes and fairways
Sand is traps are rarely turned throughout the course
Standing water around sprinkler heads which don’t close promptly when turned off is inexcusable.
Fairway yardage markers are covered with grass and invisible. No 150/100 yardage marks are painted/visible on the cart paths
Bridge out for weeks, remains in disrepair
Mowing fairways when wet, leaving clumps of grass everywhere and not following with blowers is just simple neglect
Inexperienced, untrained grounds crews have no clue in mowing primary or secondary rough, greens or tee boxes. That a management and operational leadership issue ….. guidance and resources
Tee marker placements are rarely placed for appropriate stance.
With the rumor of a “Mayor’s Cup” Tournament being played on this course, a significant level of attention must, should, aught be, provided. Don’t just clean it up for those who don’t play it on a regular basis week after week.
Or, maybe the plan should be, let them see how untidy and neglected the course is actually presented for those customers who come from local and long distances and pay the daily fee.
Good course, play at own risk
Great quality for price. There was a shooting last time we played. Bullets coming in our general direction - maybe 40 yards from us near the 15th green. Be aware of your surroundings and be cautious out there!
