Golfer Reviews
Excellent Muni
This was my 1st time at this facility and overall it was excellent. It’s not fancy, dirt cart paths, simple pro shop building, gas golf carts with no GPS. There are nice comfort stations at various places on the course. The course conditions were good. The fairways were nice, the rough not too thick and there are few trees to get in the way. There are a few forced carries but they aren’t long and long par 3’s. I think #8 was over 200 yards from the blue tees. There were a few greens that it looked like people had damaged, I have no idea why people would treat the course like that. Otherwise the greens rolled true and with good speed. Overall, I had a great time, we paid a reasonable price $ 59 for a mid summer round and we will be back soon.
Donald Ross Revisited
It was lovely to play a Donald Ross-designed course from the 1920's to see how limited land (with no houses to intrude) can be used to design interesting and variable holes while continually switching Florida wind directions from hole to hole. Oversize greens with subtle undulations and strategic bunkering add to the enjoyment of matching wits with an iconic designer from a century ago. Fun fun fun!
For the name Bobby Jones, the course left a little to be desired. 1) The carts were ancient gas powered and no gps. They ran quite rough. 2) The cart paths need a lot of work. They are dirt and full of pot holes and water. They need to redone in a more permanent fashion. 3) The greens however were really nice, cut well, lots of grass and pretty pure. 4) The fairways were also in good condition. So, overall there were good and bad points about it. I do think that they charge too much, no matter the time of the year.
River Run
The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman working the bag drop, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The course is wide open but still very challenging, with huge, beautifully maintained greens—we’ll definitely be back!
Nice but very wet
Insanely wet. Shouldn't have allowed carts in the fairways today. Round took nearly 5 hrs. Log jammed everywhere & no where to go.
Not the same anymore
Horrible course conditions for father day (over aerated greens and fairways. Simplified layout with no challenge other than distance. Still no clubhouse, just the temp shack. Bobby used to be our home course before the "renovation", but the course layout, and poor conditions do not warrant the price when other much better kept and challenging courses are running at half the price.
Well Run
First time playing the course, will be back. Greens were recently punched but are recovering nicely. Pace of play was slow but it was a weekend mid morning, we still played in under 4.5 hours. Overall great experience.
well maintained course
Staff was excellent from the bag drop, clubhouse and starter, course is in great shape and pace of play was excellent
great day of golf
course in fantastic condition. staff courteous and friendly. overall, a great day
Good, with a discount.
Name appeal, nondescript layout (back 9 was more interesting), good greens, ok tees and fairways. Got a great deal with GolfNow - not sure it is worth it at full price.
Do not play this course.
We paid about $115 each to play this course. I feel we were cheated out of iur money. The quality of the course is very poor. It has a gravel staging area and cart paths. Our cart quit working during the round and had to be towed away. The clubhouse, and I use this term loosely, is similar to a mobile home. I recommend you do not play this track. Hoping Golf Now will reimburse me for part of the cost.
