About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Golfer Reviews
Nice course in average shape
A few holes had rather splotchy greens especially around the hole, some tee boxes left a lot to be desired. For this round pace of play was actually pretty good. I guess my expectations are that the turf would be in better condition considering the rate to play there. I happened to get in several bunkers during the round it still surprises me that obviously some don't bother to rake the bunkers at all after playing a shot. I was raking 4 different footprint's it seemed in every bunker I had to play out of.
Could be so much better, they just don’t care
I’ve played Peacock Gap dozens of times, but not in a few years. I stopped playing and now remember why. Staff is arrogant and don’t care if players enjoy the round, they just want your coin. The layout is fun, but the course is stepped on, Dry sun baked fairways with lots of weeds, tee boxes and greens are trashed and covered in goose crap (it is everywhere on the course). The bunkers are maybe the best area of the course, sand is consistent throughout. Be warned, if you get a cart through Golf Now they will make you ride with a stranger or pay for an extra cart. Top that off with groups every 9 minutes and you get a parking lot. Save your money and give it to a course that at least tries. Lots of muni courses in the same shape within 30 minutes for less.
Nice layout
Nice course, fair and challenging, fairways are suffering from little rain conditions but playable. Restaurant was very good.
Pleasant Surprise
I played golf in Northern California for over 50 years, but somehow it never made it out to Peacock Gap… and after playing there I’m so bummed that I haven’t been here before. The course is wonderfully situated in a pleasant valley and the routing couldn’t be better. The practice area is better than most country clubs and the course conditions were pleasantly surprising with the greens being as pure as anything I’ve played in awhile.
Staff both on the course and in the restaurant could not have been better… and I can’t wait to come back.
Good enough course!
Fairly designed and maintained course.
One of the better public course in Marin!
Great course to walk
An easy course to walk as it's flat and not too far from green to next tee. The layout is challenging with dog leg fairway, penalty areas on the sides and some you must hit over, plenty of fairway to aim at and play around and many greenside bunkers with adequate sand. The challenging greens are undulating with raised fronts and sides. The grass on the greens is very good but the same cannot be said of the fairways which are the only downside of the course. The grass growth on the fairways is not good even down the middle and there are some weeds growing around the greens, but not too bad. If you don't mind bumping your ball in the fairway and onto grass, or like the challenge of hitting from dirt patches and thin lies frequently, then this is a very challenging and otherwise well maintained course.
Peacock is always a good time
Play this course pretty often. Peacock is always a good option especially hanging with friends, making new ones, grabbing drinks or if you just wanna hang out at the Range café. Pace of play varies based on the time of day/ day of the week., I typically play on Fridays and Saturdays, but even then can manage to get through 18 holes within 4 to 4 1/2 hours.
Conditions
Fairways and tee boxes definitely need attention. Greens were good but soft and bunkering was good. Par threes were the best holes on the course.
could be better
For a flat course, the layout is challenging with the many bunkers and undulating greens, especially playing in the afternoon wind. However, the fairways lacked sufficient grass with the ball often settling on hardpan and dirt between patches of thin grass. The greens were decent but 5 ft slower than the speedy practice green and a bit bumpy. Maybe it was just the grass growth in the late afternoon. Improve the fairway grass coverage and the course will be fine.
Love this course
The course layout is great for walkers or riders. It's kept in great shape.
But more importantly the staff members are terrific--friendly, welcoming and efficient.
It all makes for a great golfing experience.
