Golfer Reviews
Great course, bad cart paths
Course as always was in great shape. Needs some work on cart paths as some are really full of holes
Wonderful course
Course was in great shape with the exception of the cart paths which are atrocious. Fortunately, they are already in the process of replacing the,m
When is the cart restoration taking place?
Bruuuuutal cart paths. Some fairways were like
first cut rough. Always love the layout and conditions.
With all of the rain can expect the rough to be 5-6 inches deep. Stay in the fairways!
glad I had a Hotdeal. Will never pay $100-120
to play these courses.
Start the cart path project sooo. 30 years is enough time to install new paths.
Always love the greens, they didnt dissapoint.
Will come back after the renovations are complete.
Aging course
The grass on tee boxes, fairway, and greens are very well maintained. The roughs in this course have always been challenging but now more so because the roughs are not cut and maintained well. It is practically impossible to find your ball in that grass. Moreover the smaller sand bunkers are fine. Larger ones are very poorly maintained - see picture. Cart paths are full of potholes - worst I have seen of any course. Even if you go slow, you are getting bounced around, your clubs are rattling agains each other, and frankly after 3-4 holes of that, you stop driving on the cart path even if it says cart path only due to rain the previous day. Lastly the result, slow pace of play for everyone because every player spends extra time looking for their ball and driving slow on the obstacle course cart path. Save your time and money, go elsewhere.
The cart paths are one of the worst in Chicago. For the price of a round - you would think we’ll have decent cart paths - friends from out of town are shocked at the horrible state of the cart paths - played starboard yesterday
Beginner Golfer - 6 weeks into the sport trouble
I like the course for its challenging Fairways. I had a bit of trouble keeping in the fairways. I am trying to find a course in Chicago. Please work on the cast paths.
Rundown
Course has lost its appeal over the years: cart paths are almost falling apart and in major disrepair. Fairways have crabgrass mixed in and overall the course is less well groomed.
Not worth the money they charge.
It's always been Chicago's finest, but the last several years they haven't put much money into the course. The Cart paths are ridiculous I mean if they're not gonna repair/repair them then remove them. Better off driving on the grass. Some of bunkers were horrible, I mean like concrete. I golf 3-5 rounds a week & for the price , it's just not worth it. They need to lower rates or do repairs to keep it up.
Great course, pure greens, scenic views
Starboard course was in great shape, greens rolling pure. Challenging greens with shorter yardage make it fun. Cart paths are horrendous, need to update and fix badly.
