The course was in good shape with some interesting holes Especially on the back nine. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that some of the tee boxes were hard to find. They weren’t marked very well. Like number ten. But we enjoyed it and are planning to go back again.
Decent Course 30 Mins from Charlotte
Good value if you can get it about $30 or less. Otherwise, drive 15 more minutes to play at Riverbend YMCA for likely cheaper and a better course.
Fun layout and nice members/regulars. Lack of trees or penalty areas on the front 9 and for some holes on the back will cause wayward shots to be in others’ fairways so you’ve got to wait on others to hit their shot back to their hole or for an opportunity to hit yours back into play. This along with some shared cart paths going both ways makes it a little dangerous so be alert everywhere. It caused a little bit of pace of play issues so; we finished a foursome at 4:47 on a Sunday.
Some issues with a few tee boxes, but nothing that can’t be overcome with moving forward or back one club length. Greens were in great condition. Fairways were average.
Gem in the rough!
Found this course by accident. Thought it was crowders mountain which is close and which I have played before. This course has a great layout with great fairways, a fair rough and lightning fast greens that are made more challenging by the undulating and sloping greens. This course cannot be beat fir the money. I highly recommend!
8.16.20
Nice looking course! Better than I expected. Actually not crazy busy for a Sunday with great weather. Challenging course with some shot shaping holes. The layout is a bit weird though. As there are more than a few holes that you have to drive back through to get to the next hole. Could lead to interrupting folks behind you. I would play again though.
Challenging course. Lots of blind shots. Hills make it very unforgiving. Greens were very nicely kept with tough hole locations. Average golfers may not score well here without someone familiar to navigate the undulations of the fairways. No driving range.
Challenging Layout
Course was in great condition. Not a top tier course but front 9 is fun and the back 9 will test your ability to shape the ball. Quite a few blind tee shots that can be punishing if you're not familiar with the course. Overall a great experience and pace of play was great. Played 18 holes in about 3 hours with a pretty busy course. I will come back.
Trampoline Greens
Nice course, nice layout for most part. Not labeled well so easy to get confused where next hole is. Dangerous holes where you drive back against people behind you to get to next tee. Overall good shape with greens putting and looking good. The only negative was the trampoline greens where making a hallmark is near to impossible. The greens are not hard, just bouncy making bouncing ball onto greens advisable. Well worth playing.
Great value
Great day today at Kings Mountain! It was in great shape. Really playing two courses between the nines! Front nine was wide open with postage stamp greens. Back nine was hilly with large undulating greens. Easy drive from Charlotte! Not in my local top ten, but I will definitely be back!
Kings Mountain golf
Course overall in great shape. Fairways we great. Greens recently aerated but still rolled good for most part. Some slightly faster than others so made it a little harder judging speed but they were still good. Guys in pro shop super friendly as was entire staff I met. Played in 4 hours on a busy Friday afternoon which was great considering the amount of blondish tee shots you make there. Love the layout. Not long but still challenging. Good for all skill levels I feel.
Could be more organized
I’ll start by saying that the course was a lot of fun. Fairways and greens are both in great shape, and you are forced to hit a variety of shots. That being said, the group starting times was a dumpster fire. I arrived for an 11:10 tee time at 10:30. I checked in when I arrived and the clubhouse staff said that they were backed up and would get me started as soon as they could. I didn’t get started until 11:30. It’s like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry reserves a rental car, but they don’t have any cars for him to rent. What’s the point of the reservation?
Excellent Golf Course
Always a pleasure to play here, outstanding staff and excellent greens and fairways! Very challenging so bring your A game some blind shots but well worth the money!
Loved it
Front and back nine are complete opposites. Course is well taken care of. Loved the layouts. Blind shots are annoying but would definitely go back
Unorganized
Arrived in plenty of time for 11:00 tee time. We were told by one gentleman to get in line. There was a group that tees off at 10:30. We were getting ready to tee off and another gentleman said we had to wait for 2 groups coming from the back. We said ok. We were early. From 10:35 to 11:00 nobody came to tee box. We were on the box and one is the workers shows up said we had to let this group go that he brought. It’s now 11:05. So we are like, we’re next? He said no still another group coming from 18. We finally got to tee up at 11:30. Even the golfers that they let go from 18 were confused.
I have a question. Why reserved tee times I’d you don’t go by them? This was a. VERY BAD FIRST IMPRESSION.
Older Country Club with Boring Layout
Course and clubhouse are outdated. Course is not long, and a lot of the par 4s are very similar to one another. Greens were not fast but they were smooth. The course layout is a little confusing, as some holes require you to ride back up the cart path of a previous hole to get to the next tee box. Overall, its an average course; nothing exciting. Commuting from Charlotte, there are better options around the area.
Lightning fast greens
The only down side to this place is there's no driving range. Other than that this course is great. The front nine is pretty open. The back nine is like a true mountain course. Lots of elevation changes, lots of blind shots. The fairways had good amount of grass on them. Due to the rains of the day before I assumed the greens would have been slower than average but was almost over the top fast. For the money it's a great course and will be back to play soon.
