Nice layout
First time playing and I was impressed. The fairways were in great shape and the greens ran true. Although there was some rough spots along the edge of a few greens. The sand traps are terrible and need serious work, very little sand, mostly clay and dirt. Still I will be playing this course regularly from now on especially with the Golf Now hot deals.
Nice Course for money but far to travel from Durham NC
I loved the Course, the layouts was very good, lots of doglegs making it very challenging, few Water/Creek Hazards to work with. Overall I would give it an 90% , Staff was very nice today and all. The greens is torcher though in getting onto green to putt, very steep hills for someone has health difficulties. Nice mini snack bar, and club house seemed to be well placed with equipment sales and all.
They should have more water coolers on front 9 I only found 1 back 9 there were 3 for as hot as it was today
Fun Track
Course is way out in the country.
Tee boxes need a lot of work. Not very level and lacking any grass in some places.
Staff is friendly and overall the course is in good shape after the tee boxes. Very interesting layout.
Fun to play and would play here again.
Great Course for the $
This golf course is great for players looking to have fun at a cheap cost. The greens were well kept and the pace of play was excellent. I give this course two thumbs up!
Nice Layout.. This course needs attention
This could be a super course, however, its in disrepair. The staff really tries to overcome this and the Layout is really quite nice.. We did enjoy playing here as they had some very competitive rates. I hope they get some Money to put into this place, the staff and course deserve it
Open fairways
With good club selection and a straight drive a fairly easy course yet a joy to play. Will play again for sure.
Great for the cost
Bunkers and tee boxes need some attention, but no complaints for a $15 round!
Great Fun
Had to wait for frost but pro shop was a friendly place to hang. Good conversations with members and pro. Great tips. Wished I could execute them.
Every hole had character and something different. Some rough conditions in parts of fairway and on greens. Just roll the ball and enjoy the peace and quiet. great value.Front and back nine like two different courses. Short, narrow and small greens on front. Wider and longer on the back.
Great day for Golf
Even with the recent rains the course was in excellent condition.
Course showing great improvement
This course has always been a great value course, as a friend and I played for just $11!! We've played there every once in a while for several years, and the course has shown consistent improvement almost every time we play. The quality of the tee boxes could still use some work, but the fairways are lush and a little spongy, and the greens, that once were in desperate need of repair, have filled in pretty well, and usually stay fairly consistent throughout a round. For the value, this course is never a bad place to play!
River
Decent course need some work. This is the second time I have played there and the greens were a little better this time.
River golf
Save your money , there are 100 courses within a hours drive for similar price . Tee boxes ?? Not cut .. Might as well been high grass in the rough ... Greens -- beat up , regulars don't replace divots , and more beat then a county course up north . Fairways for the most part taken care of and some challenging lies ... Pace of play was good . Was disappointed in lack of main tends of the course for "a north Carolina course ..
Just ok if
It was okay, just okay. Greens were hard to read and had inconsistent speed from hole to hole. If I had paid more than the 20 I did pay I might have been a bit upset. I was out with family for a get together and we decided to play. Since I am a 25 handicap and can play only once or twice a month the conditions were not too much of a concern for me but others may feel differently. I would image that better players may not like this course much. Also, they have, what seemed to me, a water hazard on every hole. They owe me 6 balls. I told you I sucked.
The River
The person working the registration desk was rude and not at all friendly...if he was working for me I would fire him.
You Get What You Pay For
I have only played the River one time previously and I don't recall it being in the condition it was in when I played it recently. You can tell the course is feeling the effects of our recent NC winter. Several of the tee boxes were either overgrown or all dirt. Most of the greens were in good to great shape, but some were looking rough. The same could be said for the bunkers, they looked like the had taken a beating from lots of rain and some were just overgrown. Overall, the course is a great track and has some challenging holes. I am hoping that with some more attention to maintenance and some better weather, this course will be back in good shape again.
target golf
The layout is well conceived with many dogleg par 4s
Most greens 11/18 are in good shape, but slow and furry. Many sandtraps have weeds and standing
water. Several teeboxes are mostly dirt. Got a hot
deal on golfnow for $19. with cart for 18 holes and
that price was just about right.
Great Value
Greens are really coming around, roll try and good speed. Fairways also in great shape, tee boxes need some work on several holes but still worth the money. Will definitely play again.
River
Had lots of fun and will play here again. Course was in pretty good shape...only a problem with some of the greens.
Course is in VERY rough shape!!
Returned to this track after 2 years earlier. This course was a hidden gem in 2013, today, not so much. Greens are mostly dead, tee boxes are dirt and bunkers have no sand...but rocks as big as baseballs. NOT an exaggeration!!
I truly hope that they can turn this place around...but it looks to be is serious trouble.
Fun course to play
Though the course is not in the greatest condition, it gives a fun round of golf!
