Great course
I would give this golf course an A+ . Everything on the course was well taken care of.
first visit and veru enjoyed
the course climate feels rather cool although the temp is 92 degree due to wind and shadow.
The course is one of the best that we played.
The staff and pro shop were so kind.
We will definitely visit the course again.
Suprisingly good course
I was very surprised by the course layout and conditions. The course is, for me, way out in the middle of nowhere; Bunn, NC. I was feeling adventurous so I traveled 1hr 10 minutes from Durham to try the course out. I have never played the course before so didn't know what to expect. Upon arriving a small best ball tournament was teeing off taking the first 4 holes up, I would eventually tee off as a single behind them. It was very slow behind this group! But I was very please with the conditions of the fairways and greens. There are a few sand traps that have fallen into disrepair and lots of water in them. I'm guessing they'll have those ready for summer play. Some tee boxes were hard pan. But everything else was very playable and surprised by the layout. I'd rate this course fun to play and challenging
Super Bowl Sunday Round
The course was closed for several days prior due to snow, although it was wet the greens and fairways were in good shape. Love the layout!
Hills are fun
This course is nicely maintained considering the amount of leaves failing. This course is challenging enough for the avid golfer, yet open enough for the occasional golfer.
Nice course will play there again
Very nice and friendly staff, We had great time playing
Shaggy and dangerous
Fairways were about an inch deep, no roll, almost like hitting out of rough. Greens as smooth as a gravel road. Found two fist sized rocks in one of the bunkers. Even with the discount, it only presented me with an opportunity to injure myself. Thankfully that didn't happen, but constantly having to hit out of 1 inch fairway grass is ridiculous! Will not return to play there and my mother lives across the street!
Different challenges thru-out course
As a novice golfer, I found the narrow fairways to be challenging. Most holes are protect by hazards. It was a fun but challenging course for first time on it.
The GM is very friendly and they offer several discounts.
This course is great for beginners looking for a challenge
This course is not too hard but not easy at the same time. It has alot of sand traps many of which surround the green. The course also has alot of water hazards forcing you to make more accurate shots. Overall it is a good course for the money and I would definitely play again
Good overall- Not so great sand traps
The fairways were great. But don't hit in the trap. Its like hitting out of the Grand Canyon. Water runoff has decimated those things. There arent too many of them though, so it shouldnt ruin the experience.
Fun to play
Course has good mix of holes that are very easy and some that are challenging.
Good local course
This is a fine local course but not a place worth traveling to. It's short and tight in many places. The greens are small and were in below average condition.
nice gem of a course
this was a nice course. not real long, but long enough. very open layout with some water. the par 5's are reachable and there is a drivable par 4 with a straight tee shot. very risk reward type course.
Good Course, be warned not easy
This course was in good shape for the first of April after a rain storm. There are several holes on each side that are low holes and do not drain very well. That being said everything else was great.
Greens were extremely fast, think hitting a 2 footer to sink a 12 footer. If the putt is downhill it is almost a given 2 putt possibly a 3 putt depending on your touch.
Overall I enjoyed my round of golf at The River. I would recommend this to others.
Nice, easy course, but probably not worth more than $30
The course was really nice for an over 100 player like myself. It's a fair hike outside of Raleigh, which makes it less crowded than similar courses (Brevofield/Lakeshore). Similar to those two courses in difficulty, with nicer fairways than both. Greens were pretty quick, but the grass is still developing for the season. We got a $25 tee-time, which is about what this place is worth. Awesome value for a below-average/novice player, who wants a cheap course to play without the crowds of Brevo/Lakeshore
First time at The River
My first visit, and it was February, so the entire course was brown, but otherwise, an enjoyable layout that takes advantage of the Neuse River. The cart fleet looks a little down-at-the-heels, and the bunkers were rather indifferently groomed (there has been A LOT of rain in past days), but I like the variety of holes and looks. This course could be a five star with a little attention to tee boxes, fairway yardage markers, new carts, and perhaps overseeded fairways. I will play here again.
WOW
Great rate...really unbelievable; course in good shape and rather challenging. Staff is awesome.
course was muddy because of rain the nite before
most greens are elevated so have to add a club .... small greens .... but great value for the money
I am reading these negative comments and I really don't understand. I play here a lot and the course is just a great all around course. Sure it is not like a local college course or the expensive semi private country clubs around. But for a local course to plat it is an excellent course to play for the money. The course has been maintained over this past year and is looking really great. Staff is always nice, friendly and treat you great when you play. I would always recommend playing this course if you live in the Wake Forest, Bunn, Rolesville, North Raleigh area. Again great prices, how many courses are out there where you can play for under $30 for 18 and cart fees?
