Nags Head Golf Links
About
Nags Head Golf Club has a traditional Scottish-links layout that is right at home on the windswept terrain of the Outer Banks. Situated along the Roanoke Sound, the rugged coastline and rolling sand dunes perfectly mimic a classic links landscape. The golf course is a shot maker's layout that will test your skills but it is still player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. You'll need a sharp short game for sure, but you won't need much length on this rather short layout. Some form of water appears on nearly every hole, including some holes that play right along the Sound, and the undulating greens can be tough. It's a challenging-but-fun round that is worth playing for the scenery alone. Unsurprisingly, Nags Head Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in the OBX.

Golfer Reviews
Leave driver at home
Great course, played almost all clubs in my bag.
Wind was a factor but playable.
Greens were soft and rolled true .
Target golf but very fair.
A thinking golfers course.
Nags Head Links
Course was in great shape. Plays tough but fair. Views are awesome.
Awesome views
A few points to make about the course:
1. The views are spectacular. There are 5 or 6 holes on the bay that are beautiful and offer great picture opportunities.
2. The rates before noon are ridiculous. This course is not worth $110. We got an awesome deal on golfnow for $25 and it is absolutely worth that price.
3. For the "quality" that this course is supposed to present, I was not pleased with the greens. Back home in Louisville, these greens would be about as bad as it gets. I understand that it gets hot here and it is hard to keep the greens fast and smooth but for the norma price tag I was not happy. The rest of the course was in very good shape.
4. The course is very short and tight. It is definitely target golf. If you can hit something about 200 yds and straight off the tee, that should be your club of choice most of the day. Very tough to figure yardage a to hazards. Strongly recommend buying a yardage book.
5. The clubhouse and snack bar both closed at 5 pm. Again, for the price tag on this course,I would expect a little more hospitality and customer service. So if you get a twilight tee time, bring your own drinks.
Great course
Challenging at times but overall nice course. The wind off the sound made for some tough shots. Nice sunset views.
Knowing the course
When I booked with Golfnow they explained the course had airrrated the greens, they were spot on.Also I got to the Outer banks early and called the course to see if my group could tee off any earlier,we teed off about an hour before our booked tee time. The only issue was SLOW play, didn't see Marshall the whole 18 holes
Scenic golf
Very nice links course. Beautiful holes along Sound. Interior holes are tight. Course not as well conditioned as other times I have played it.
Front and Back - Day and Night
Excellent course made even better with GolfNow rates
Nags Head
Considering the very cold winter the course was in decent shape. Better than the sister course Currituck Club
great day!
Played 18 holes on this tight little course, beautiful setting on the sound and great condition.
This course is a fun challenge
Bring a few extra golf balls for this short little jewel, and keep your driver in the bag. Windy days will play difficult, and the views of the water are fantastic.
Wv golfer
Excellent greens
Only played 9 hole (3+ hours)
Extremely crowded
Water water everywhere
Course was in great shape for spring. Weather was sunny, dry and cool. Greens were fast but easy to read, fairways were pretty wide open with WATER HAZARDS everywhere and almost every hole. Of the 5 courses we played the week we were here, this was the most challenging with the water hazards. You may want to pack some extra balls, some AA for the water holes. So glad we payed and expierenced this track in OBX.
Short course
Very short course. Conditions were good over all, the lay out is nice, very tight. A couple of holes right on the waters edge. I would play here again.
very challenging
Love the course and the challenge but the greens have a lot of poa Anna in them which makes putting very bumpy.
Best course on the obx
Awesome well kept course that is very challenging, especially if the wind is blowing. The guys in the pro shop and the restuarant/bar are top notch. The views on the front and back could rival most courses on east or west coast.
BEAUTIFUL DAY
65-70 Degrees in February! The course was in great shape. Quit a few people took advantage of the day.
Beautiful sound side course
One of my favorite outer banks courses to play when on the family vacation. The 4 holes along the sound are outstanding. Short course, yet still a fun challenge. Definitely leave the driver in the bag. Use GPS since some holes have some blind shots where yardage is a challenge. Overall, it's the best 6000 yards I've played.
Nags Head links
I love playing this course. Though it is usually windy, this day was perfect. It winds along the sound, and is just a beautiful course for scenery. It is short, but narrow, and with some well placed dunes, can make this a challenge. I highly recommend it.
Very challenging
Great conditions. Better hit em straight. Outstanding views. Wind was not a factor today but could be.
