The Emerald Golf Club

The course was fine, but in the hot summer it would be nice if they would put out a couple of water buckets, the only water was the the restrooms one on each side and the fountains were not cold. In my opinion this would be a nice improvement to a good course.

The new champion Bermuda grass greens are grown in and smooth as can be. Tee boxes and fairways are also in great shape since the course has been closed for 9 weeks. Many trees were removed near the greens making the course a little easier to play. The day we played was cart path only which slowed us down a little. This is one of the best courses in New Bern.

This course hsa recently had their greens redone from bent to champion burmuda. The new greens are a little thin but they putt well. The greens should be great by next spring. The traps are playing better it appears new sand was added when the course was closed for two months.

My handicap is 9.4. I play The Emerald very often. I find it pricey at regular pricing, but they have good online deals on a regular basis.
The course is always in good shape with wonderful fairways and true rolling greens. The course is closing for a period in July and Aug. to replace the greens from bentgrass to Bermuda.
Probably the best overall course in the area.
Compared to Carolina Colours: Carolina Colours has a nice layout and excellent greens, but the fairways are hard and still not mature. Even with a T Shot in the fairway, you may not have the
best lie. Carolina Colours charges to much. Cheapest tate is $36.

Looks and plays great. A bit challeging on some holes

Beautiful course, super nice staff and challenging golf. Leave your driver at home for all you big hitters. It'll get you in more trouble than you can handle. Greens rolling perfect even after a huge down pour right before my buddy and I teed off. I'm from Pinehurst so I know good golf and you all will love this place!

Played here with hubby recently. Friendly Staff and we were surprised how quick we were able to play In weekend. Nice course, not super difficult. Will go back !

The weather was great and greens are very nice. Didn't have much trouble finding my ball if it was a little off the fairway. The facilities were very nice and the bathrooms were very clean.

A very nice course. Helpful and friendly staff. Pace of play was a little slow, but not too bad for a weekend.

I played the course on Easter Sunday and got a great deal from Golfnow, nearly 75% off my round. Course was dormant due to the long winter, but fairways were in decent shape and greens were very well maintained. Course is not difficult and has many enjoyable and challenging holes, especially a few par 3's over water. Regular price may be a little steep for this course, but well worth it at a discounted price. If you have trouble staying in the FW's, you may want to load up on balls as all the FW's are treelined or marked OB due to houses. Long hitters and low handicaps will find this course to play pretty easy and enjoyable.

Playing alone in midweek can sometimes be tough especially if the weather's nice and the course crowded. Managed to hit everything right on the day I played. Weather not too cold and course play spread out, allowing me to move along on my own pace for the most part. Course isn't particularly long or tricky, but it's a nice comfortable layout. Staff was friendly. Fairways hadn't been overseeded so they were dead, and the greens had been top dressed so they ran a little slow but were true for the most part. Cart paths were in need of repair. Teeth rattlin' in some areas. Also, there was no water on the course and fountains at the halfway restrooms were turned off. Would have been nice to know before teeing off so you could get a bottle of water. Front nine was a bit parched as a result. All in all, not a bad day.

Played in March so had not greened up yet, but still a very pretty course. Great layout with some unique holes. Practice facilities were very nice. Wonderful greens. Coming off winter so grass around greens not as plush as normal probably, but I look forward to playing again when it is.

Nice layout. Great practice facitilty. The greens were in gret shape for this time of year. The course was wet and appears to hold water.

Would play here any time, wish it was a little closer.

The Emerald is a beautiful, well-maintained course. With five sets of tees it can accommodate all levels of play. There are no trick holes - what you see is what you get. Bent grass greens run true. Water comes into play on 5 holes.
