Crystal Coast Country Club
About
The Crystal Coast Country Club sits along the Bogue Sound, sprawling across sand dunes and weaving through the Maritime Forest. The club boasts the only golf course on the 21-mile island of Pine Knolls Shores. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the course doesn't have the length that some other championship layouts have but there are still plenty of challenges in store. In addition to bunkers that are strategically placed along the small greens and narrow fairways, water comes into play on 13 holes. Though there are some tight spots that can be tough to navigate, the golf course is player friendly enough for all skill levels to enjoy. Regardless of ability, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful scenery, especially on the back nine where you'll have the best views of the Sound.

course was in good shape... staffing needs personality trining
I've played at this course about 4 or 5 times. It was in good condition but we were behind 4 young boys. They took their sweet ole time and looked to be hitting several shots per lie. Upon check in the person behind the counter wasn't the most personable. Didn't even greet us or crack a smile. We then went out to get out cart. No one was around. Went around the corner of the building to see the person, who looked over their shoulder at me and proceeded to drive away to the other side of the bulding. So, I went around and found him. Asked to get a card assigned. He said, yeah, just take one. The proceeded to walk away. Um... OK, Thank you. Got our cart and had a nice round of golf regardless of the staff.
Great day!!
Beautiful day weatherwise. Very pleasant staff. Challenging course. Love the video info onboard the cart. Will play again, especially with golf now hot deals!!
Tight course. Tons of water. Fast greens. No driving range.
18 holes crammed into a small area. Would be great to walk. Tight & narrow fairways. Balls flying everywhere all day. Definitely put your name on your ball. Very well taken care of facility with the exception of leaves…. Beautiful landscaping around the entire course. Fast & challenging greens. The hardest course I personally have played.
No driving range but small wedge area 90 yard max & 6 players at a time. The 10th tee box is only separated from the 90 yard max”driving range by a cart path. Felt like we could get hit at anytime on that tee box. They could really use a starter as lots of confusion by several other groups.
Nice new carts with cushy seats. No beverage carts. Dont care for being price gouged $38 for soft feels (normally $24). No hotdogs, roller wasn’t even on though they were in the fridge next to the drinks. Swiss & ham sammich was on point though. Bar & restaurant was closed…
Off season
It was a cold day at 40 degrees. Front 9 was off the water so pretty comfortable. Back 9 started off on the water with a breeze so we felt the chill. The course was in great shape and will definitely be back. Pulled up and a golf card was driven to me and had assistance in unloading our bags. Everyone wa friendly, the course was empty due to the weather but we loved it.
Nice Course
I like CCCC and always enjoy playing there. The staff is friendly and the course is always in good condition. I always feel like a country club member for an afternoon. It’s very nice and I will be back soon.
Gem of a course
First time playing but wanted to play it for a couple of years. Got a “hot deal” midday tee time and off I went. The course is shorter (just over 6,000 yds) and tight. Made for a challenge to plan your shots not just bomb and wedge. The staff was super courteous, and offered some good local knowledge. The starter gave some pointers on the fairways and greens. Speaking of greens, they may be a bit smaller but have some serious undulating surfaces making for thinking thru putts. Fairways are well manicured and the bunkers have plenty of good sand (great for splashing out). The course offers great views of Bogue Sound when starting the back nine. Fifteen is a neat island green style par three…love it. Will play it again!
A Treat Worth the Time
First time playing (but not my last). I had heard about the “tightness” of the course and the requirement to think about shot placement so to say I was nervous was a slight understatement. The staff meets you with your cart, gives great direction on what is expected. The starter was super helpful with some “local knowledge” and advised the distances on the first tee (a delightful short par three to set you at ease). The course was in excellent shape and the greens rolled true. A number of holes were cart path only (the heavy rains in the area forced this - no problem). The front nine offers its fair share of water to carry while the back nine offers some great views of Bogue Sound (10 and 11 run parallel to the sound). 14 holds a neat hazard near the green and 15 is a neat par 3 reminiscent of all those island par 3’s. In the end I had a blast on this par 70 with an 80 (net par for me). It’s worth the cost especially when you catch a “hot deal”….will definitely play again.
Not too bad
Course looked decent. There were a couple holes where I got lost and managed to find my way but it would have been nice to have directional markers to show the next hole location. I had an older couple ahead of me who didn’t seem interested in letting me play through so I spent the front nine waiting quite a bit. Overall it wasn’t a bad place
Washout
Course was closed due to a topical storm that hit 16Sep202. Surprised golfpass allowed me to book.
