Greens are nearly worthless
Greens are like hammered dog crap. Bare spots, craters, a million divots not repaired. Not bad otherwise but the greens are trash. It's been a couple years since I played there and I don't remember it this bad but I don't recall honestly. No plan of going there again
Basic/Municipal golf
Short course that currently has some disease in its greens. It’s basic golf for a little higher than basic cost. Good course for a parent/child.
Good for the price
Good place to play if you are looking for variety with a cheap price tag. No driving range, greens are not in very good condition, but fun course to play. 3 sets of 9 holes gives you a good variety.
RGA - Rugged Greens Assoc.
I have had very good experiences on this course over the many rounds I have played on it through the years, but I gave up keeping score this time around because the greens (especially on the back 9) were in terrible shape.
They must have some sort of fungal issues with their greens, because the vast majority were covered with large clumps of sand in spots, making it impossible to putt on - resulting in me deciding it was a waste of time to keep score.
The overall condition (besides the greens) of the course was typical RGA, which was good enough. I’ve always enjoyed the laid back attitude of the staff here, and the course is challenging for all skill levels.
I would just expect the greens fees to be reduced with greens in this poor of shape. Golf courses reduce rates when they aerate, so I don’t see why this wouldn’t be the case when the greens are under repair and mostly unplayable.
RGA
Course is making some changes which is much needed. New carts are on the way; however, the greens desperately need some TLC. The price is and location are great. If the greens get the care they need it’ll be a great course for all players
Fun Course
RGA is relatively short but enjoyable. It's centrally located in Raleigh which minimizes travel time. The staff is friendly and inviting.
Great beginners course
The course is great for beginners learning to play. The price is one of the cheaper around. The course is open and the trees are thinned out which makes them playable for us that like to hit our ball there. The front 9 were better maintained than the back 9. I would definitely like to see this course get some proper maintenance and care. That would take my overall rating from a 3 to a 5 easily. Still it's worth it for the price and fun to play!
