Lochmere Golf Club

Was playing the 9th par 5. Starter sitting on first tee box came out to fairway and asked us to speed up. Young guys behind us bombing there drives I noticed the previous 8 holes. My guess is they called the clubhouse and complained we were slow. And we weren’t. So starter informed us on the 10th hole to just drop ball at the 150 marker instead of teeing off to speed up play. Well we got to the 10th and teed off. I paid to play all 18 holes as I paid for this. When we got on green the group that most likely called clubhouse was just getting in tee box. So who’s the idiots here? Just because a golfer calls in and complains about a group and there’s been no sighting of any Marshalls the whole time I was out there is bogus! Send a Marshall out there to observe situation! And no group should be hitting into you!! The clubhouse contacted starter on first tee box and took the callers word 100% no doubt in my mind! WRONG approach !!

I was in town on a business trip and wanted to get a round of golf in after work some place that does rentals, this brought me to lochmere. I grabbed the earliest tee time I could get 6:12 pm, got there, rented the clubs and was told "you have to return your rental clubs by 7:30 and it's packed out there". I asked why the heck I had to return them before I am done playing, they said "it's the policy". Would not budge at all on it. It was my only chance to play this week so I went out anyway. Played 6 holes and left. Joke of a place. Mediocre golf course, over priced, crap service.

Overall the course was in good shape and played well. But, other than 150 stakes there are almost no yardage markings, or a computer on the cart. To play this course, you MUST have an app and they should tell you that before you tee off.

Draining systems are not working, so wet everywhere after raining, back 9, par 3 is still on work for tee box, years, no rangers Controlling the pace,

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish.

The tee boxes were in rough condition and clearly need attention. Pace of play was extremely slow all day. To be fair, the ranger was visible and stopped by several times, but he never seemed able to get the group in front of us moving. As a result, they backed up the entire course and every group behind them suffered through a frustratingly slow round.

The biggest issue was the starter. He was rude toward our group and generally came across as someone who did not want to be there. Whether he was simply unhappy about working a weekend or something else, his demeanor was unprofessional and made a poor first impression. We had never seen him there before and sincerely hope we do not encounter him again.

Adding to the frustration, it was around 90 degrees and there was no drink cart service on the course. On a hot summer day, that's a significant miss.

The one bright spot was the course conditions in certain areas. The greens were excellent, the bunkers were in very good shape, and the fairways were generally okay. If course conditioning alone were the only factor, this review would be much different.

There are too many good golf options in the Triangle to put up with an experience like this. Until management addresses the pace of play issues, improves customer service, and gets operations running more smoothly, we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

Super slow play on a hot June day, which is fine except for when the Ranger tells your group to keep pace when all you are doing is waiting on the people in front of you to get off the green to take your second shot. Very very annoying. Also, for some reason this course floods its T boxes during a severe drought so you have to find places to tee up. I would not recommend Lochmere.

I enjoyed my round of golf at Lochmere golf course. Their clubhouse food is excellent. Unfortunately the greens were being aerated when I played. I heard the greens were in good shape. Other than that everything was perfect.

Greens were perfect. The coursewas a little beat up on the edges, but we got stuck with a member who was hitting shots all over the place hitting second shots, dropping balls, chipping, and had zero etiquette and there was no way to ditch him.

Pace of play wasn’t fun. Clearly too many tee times were booked. Grill was very good, pro shop and driving range were very nice. Fairways and greens were consistent and well maintained.

They are redoing a lot of tee boxes. Not much grass to tee off on anywhere. Greens were hard as bricks.

Dry weather has been great for the fairways and greens. Looking forward to the t boxes filling in.
