Great first time experience! My new favorite!
What a great Sunday morning game. Staff was friendly, organized and helpful. First time on this course- loved the design, conditions yet wished it had a driving range. The chipping and putting practice greens were properly challenging.
Cannot wait to play at RGA again!
Quality for the time of year
It was a Sunday morning round that I booked the night before. The weather was 45 degrees at the beginning of play and about 55 by the time we were done. Fairways were in good shape for Central NC in late November. Greens had been punched recently and were in good shape, other than a few areas that were dead. We were told to play them as area under repair, and for the most part they didn't cause us any issues. We were allowed to play the members back 9 which we found was in great shape and offered us a bit more challenge. Overall, 3.5 stars, for a public course in November 4 stars. I plan to go back and play some more this winter, and I recommend that if you are in the South Raleigh area that you check it out.
Eh…
If you understand it’s a 40+ year old course and you can get past the first two greens then it’s not a bad track. For $36 on a Sunday midday it’s fair. The layout is fine not spectacular. Requires accuracy off the tee on most holes although there are a few green light holes where it’s worth the risk. Don’t think I’ve ever played it where it wasn’t a full tee sheet so don’t plan on a sub 4 hour round. Won’t happen.
Better than average Public Course
This course is in much better shape than most public courses at this time of the year. Greens are surprisingly in good shape and fairways are in decent shape as well. You have the ability to get after the pin with the greens being receptive this late in the golf season.
Eh
Greens need a lot of love. Most of the holes were in decent shape but others looked like a Metroid shower hit them or monsoon flood waters were trying to carve out the second Grand Canyon. I think all and all it’s not bad but for $45 I’d say go somewhere else.
Decent course…awful greens.
The course is decent. PoP and layout were good. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The fairways were in decent shape as well. The greens however….it was like putting a golf ball down a plinko board. There were tons of divots and weeds all over the greens. Multiple dry dead patches on greens poorly attempted to be covered by sand. A few of the greens were manageable but overall they were in bad shape.
Mixed Results
Disappointing course conditions were not described while booking online.
Not much improvement since I last played over a year ago
Everything else was fine
Bad greens and slow play
The greens were in the worst shape I’ve ever seen at a course. Paid full price and would not again. Don’t think I’ll be playing here any time soon.
Terrible Greens. 4 hours through 14 holes.
Incredibly disappointing experience. Usually RGA is a decent enough value course but sheesh the greens were in bad shape. Tons of weeds in the green. Pace of play was horrendous. 4 hours by the time we got to hole 14. We ended up leaving as it was just tough to enjoy when you are waiting 10-20 mins between shots. Usually this is a decent course for sub-$50
