Golfer Reviews
Although the round was cart path only due to heavy rains the night before the course was in great shape. Staff at concessions was friendly , unlike the gentleman who checked me in for tee time. Personality of a gnat.
Bumpy greens
Greens were barely puttable, Even though aeration had been over a month ago, greens were rough. The punches had not healed and did not have enough sand or top dressing to fill them. RGA is a fun layout, but may be time to go with Bermuda greens,
Fairways pretty rough.
The course has a challenging and nice layout. I was disappointed with how dried out and hard the fairways were. Their has been enough rain this spring to see luster there. Perhaps throughout the summer the grass will grow in. Greens were adequate but very slow and uneven. I will play here again because the course was fun.
Greens need attention
I have played RGA a number of times over the years. The layout is what it is--short holes mainly with a few holes with fairways that are simply unfair.
The biggest issue is the quality of greens. They had just been aerated, but that was not really the problem. The greens were the bumpiest I have every played. I could not keep a putt on line.
Horrible Conditions
The greens were aerated but no one tells you that when you book tee time. The fairways looked like they never fertilized at all so it was like hitting off of hard pan for every shot. Will not go back for a long time.
Not great
First time playing here, won’t go back. Not worth the money. Played first 9 on public side, greens were incredibly bumpy, ended up just auto 2-putting. Very busy, we had to wait 5-10 minutes at every hole.
However, because it was so busy, they did allow us to play the private side for the second 9 for which we were thankful. The private side was in MUCH better condition and we were able to play at a good pace with no waiting.
Fun course
RGA is a nice course. Semi open and you can't get into too much trouble. I like playing here but not a place I would say let me take you somewhere special. However its enjoyable and I'll definitely play again.
No driving range. Course conditions were poor, although that is most likely a function of the time of year..
Greens need work
This place is feasting off of overbooking tee times on a very average at best course. While the price is cheap for Raleigh, I would rather pay ~15$ more for playable greens and more spaced out tee times.
