Very Enjoyable
The course is in its best shape in years. While it is relatively short, it is still challenging. The greens are very receptive and in great shape; fairways are starting to fill in nicely. This course is a great value plus there are no tee times . . . just walk up and play. The only downside is there is no driving range so it may take a few holes to warm up.
Laid back experience
the greens were in excellent condition but the fairways and the ruff were a little thin in a few areas. Paired up with 2 very friendly golfers which helped the overall experience.
Great for beginner golfers
Awesome course for my level of play; however on this day it took more than 5 hours to finish 18 holes riding a cart. The last two times I played it took only 4 hours walking.
It didn't feel like there were any more people than usual. I guess it's hit or miss with the pace of play.
A course for all golfers
The RGA will accommodate all skill levels. The back nine is more challenging than the front. The greens were hard but not fast and in excellent condition. I will return to this course. Enjoyed it very much. Good hot dogs!
Favorite Time To Play
I get out of work at 3 and work close to the course so I can be there and tee off within 20 minutes. The course is great to play Thursdays after work. I am able to play 18 in under 3 hours and get home in time for dinner. Once the course greens up, it will be a not only fun to play but the scenery will be enjoyable as well.
To Busy To Play
I usually play this course after work and normally finish 18 holes in less than 3 hours. I made the mistake of booking a 3:20 tee time on a Friday, after a few days of bad weather. The amount of people playing was awesome to see but for a golfer like me made the course unplayable. You would hit one shot and wait 10 minutes. I suggest if you are looking to play golf and not under a time crunch then go for it. If not, I would avoid Friday afternoons. I knew better but tried it anyways.
Great Round, Great Course
I got out of work early and decided to play 18 holes on a beautiful day. When I got there everyone was friendly. I had no wait. I hopped in the cart and off I went. I was playing good which made the round better but when I caught up to people they allowed me to join up or play through. Due to prior engagements I was looking to play fast so I played through. I finished 18 holes in under three hours. I love the course and will continue to play it weekly.
Good Friday
RGA's front 9 is short and very forgiving however the back side makes up for it.
The greens were in very good shape and firm. We had a great round .
This course has nice greens
The course is great went on Good Friday pace was very slow over all I'd go back and invite friends.
Short decent course
Tee boxes were a mess. Course plays very short. Greens were in fair condition. The sad part is they have a new beer policy. They will not sell you more then one beer at a time!?!!! That's just crazy and makes me want to play another course.
Great city course
This is always been a Good course. It's very close to City of Raleigh and is very easy to get access. Because of that it is always crowded. The course is also short on distance, it's a seasoned course with lack of extra room. They don't take tee times so it can go from open tee box to full blown 10 cart pile up on the tee. It's a good/friendly course just expect a FULL day of stop and go Golf.
Always great
This is a great course to brush up any part of your game. Not very long but has some really fun holes. Greens are true and always in great shape. Can't go wrong playing here.
Course is fun to play
I really enjoy playing this course.
Play moves very smoothly.
Relaxing but bland course
This was my first time playing here, but I had a good time. All grass was dead except for the greens as can be expected of most places this time of year. On the bright side, I didn't have the deep rough issue. In my opinion, there is not a lot of interesting stuff going on at this course. All holes are relatively straight with bunkers few and far between. There are not a lot of hazards to lose balls on. I only lost one on the front 9 and that is really good for me. I actually liked the fact that there were so many walkers on the course; to me, it makes the course feel less rushed and more enjoyable.
With all that being said, I think this would be a great course for beginners and more experienced players to shake off the rust from not playing for a while. The course played pretty short and today at least, the greens were really slow. That could be due to the rain yesterday, but it is probably like that most of the time. Another plus for players with errant drives is that there are no houses bordering the holes.
I would go back here again if the price was right. If I were going to spend more money, I would go somewhere else.
Expectations
The front 13 holes can be rather boring and there is no excitement on the golf course. Finally when you get to 14 you start to see some good golf holes that will also provide a little bit of a challenge.
Convenient to downtown
The greens were in the best shape I've seen in a while there. Very responsive to spin and had a soft touch. The fairways were in decent shape for being dormant.
great value, hidden gem
Visiting my in laws for Christmas and wanted to play while everyone else was relaxing before the big day. Despite the fact it was drizzling the course was not too wet and the greens were in very good shape. Not to long but still challenging enough to keep my very interested.
Good deal, good practice course, but greens a little scruffy.
Still a fun round of golf...saw deer and Red Tail Hawk as played the course...good day to be outside...
Too much time looking for balls just off the fairway, the balls get lost in the second cut....
Greens need a little work with patches of dead grass....as long as you are on the fairway you are OK...just off the fairway the second cut is too thick/dense and your ball gets lost...I've read other reviews about having to look for your ball just off the green but didn't realize how bad it was. It's frustrating when you can't find your ball....
Great day and a very good course
Great day and a very good course. GREAT TIME. GREEN VERY TRUE AND FAIRWAYS CUT NICE
