Had to play the same 9 holes twice
I have played at RGA dozens of times in recent years, so I kind of know how they operate and not much surprises me anymore, but GolfNow users should be aware...
1) Tee times aren't really a thing there. It's basically first come, first off. In the early morning, you will battle with droves of retired guys no matter what time you book.
2) The same droves of retired guys mentioned above have lots of "games" that close portions of the course to the rest of us. Yesterday I had to play the same 9 holes twice despite booking a regular time on GolfNow. I didn't know until I showed up to check in that the other two nines were closed for the old guys. Of course they put me on the worst of the 3 nines.
3) The course is easy, but fun. It's a decent value if you can play for $35 or less. Don't pay more than that. You can do better in the area.
Convenient option, course in good shape
The course was in good condition. While the greens run on the slower side, they are pretty smooth, and I value that more. Always like the fact that it is in town and a shorter drive to get to. Finishing holes keep some bite in the course.
Geefer
Very good greens .Fairways could use a little attention in some areas.Course Fees are high for Seniors. slow play before noon on week days and week ends. No 19th hole attractions. no beer.no coolers.
Nice Course Great Weather
I felt the course provided a moderate degree of difficulty. I did not find the staff to be that down to earth, especially when it came to the matter of directing us on the course. However, once out on the course the fairways were plush and the greens were well maintained. All in all, well worth the money and a great course for beginners to intermediates.
Great fun course
Very nice course that is in great condition. Not the most challenging of courses you'll find but is a lot of fun and the staff is great.
compared to Lochmere
Compared to Lochmere, it is always in better condition. Greens could be faster, short par 5s on the front, hard 18th.
Nice round
My golf partner and I have decided to spend more money, in order to enjoy a better flow of play on better courses. Four $38 around, RGA stood up to our challenge. When there was slow play ahead of us, staff members made it a point to ask us if this was bothering us. When it finally became too slow, we called the clubhouse and a ranger was out there immediately to move things along. That's worth the price of admission. I'll be back to play RGA soon and regularly.
Not going back; spend your money elsewhere.
The teeboxes were overgrown and looked like someones front yard. The greens were in awful condition and on par with Knights Play.
The staff had a friendly woman that was amazing, but an older gentleman that was incredibly unwelcoming.
I couldn't see myself going back.
Despirate need of WATER
This course looked very nice when we pulled up. They have two separate courses, one for public and one for members only. We were disappointed to find that the don't have a driving range.
We went into the Pro Shop to pay for our round and everyone seemed very nice. We think that they could have stood to have some more supplies around, but it's not a big deal.
When we got out onto the course, we started on #10. Again, no biggie! The biggie rared it's ugly head when we put the first ball into the fairway. There was NO water on this poor course. The first and second cuts of rough were very short (almsot fairway short). However, the further we got into the round, the drier everything got. It was to a point on 17 where we were hitting shots from the fairway and we were engulfed in a cloud of dust. Driving the carts in the rough even stirred up a cloud! Several of the bunkers that I hit into were nothing more than dirt. There was no sand to speak of!
Don't get me wrong. I'm not used to playing on Pinehurst and Pebble Beach, but this course would have been a 4 or possibly 5 star course with several weeks of water! Guys, please, for the love of the game, turn on the sprinklers!!
Front Nine and Shareholders
Course is in good shape except the greens were very slow.
Course greens
This course was aerating there greens, and didn't tell you about it so It was a complete surprise! Most courses tell you what they are doing with the course. RGA should do the same!
Great Value
Great course for the money. Good mix of short par 4s with challenging doglegs. I enjoyed this course very much.
Very Enjoyable
The course is in its best shape in years. While it is relatively short, it is still challenging. The greens are very receptive and in great shape; fairways are starting to fill in nicely. This course is a great value plus there are no tee times . . . just walk up and play. The only downside is there is no driving range so it may take a few holes to warm up.
Laid back experience
the greens were in excellent condition but the fairways and the ruff were a little thin in a few areas. Paired up with 2 very friendly golfers which helped the overall experience.
Great for beginner golfers
Awesome course for my level of play; however on this day it took more than 5 hours to finish 18 holes riding a cart. The last two times I played it took only 4 hours walking.
It didn't feel like there were any more people than usual. I guess it's hit or miss with the pace of play.
A course for all golfers
The RGA will accommodate all skill levels. The back nine is more challenging than the front. The greens were hard but not fast and in excellent condition. I will return to this course. Enjoyed it very much. Good hot dogs!
Favorite Time To Play
I get out of work at 3 and work close to the course so I can be there and tee off within 20 minutes. The course is great to play Thursdays after work. I am able to play 18 in under 3 hours and get home in time for dinner. Once the course greens up, it will be a not only fun to play but the scenery will be enjoyable as well.
To Busy To Play
I usually play this course after work and normally finish 18 holes in less than 3 hours. I made the mistake of booking a 3:20 tee time on a Friday, after a few days of bad weather. The amount of people playing was awesome to see but for a golfer like me made the course unplayable. You would hit one shot and wait 10 minutes. I suggest if you are looking to play golf and not under a time crunch then go for it. If not, I would avoid Friday afternoons. I knew better but tried it anyways.
Great Round, Great Course
I got out of work early and decided to play 18 holes on a beautiful day. When I got there everyone was friendly. I had no wait. I hopped in the cart and off I went. I was playing good which made the round better but when I caught up to people they allowed me to join up or play through. Due to prior engagements I was looking to play fast so I played through. I finished 18 holes in under three hours. I love the course and will continue to play it weekly.
Good Friday
RGA's front 9 is short and very forgiving however the back side makes up for it.
The greens were in very good shape and firm. We had a great round .
