Has seen better days
I typically look for lowest price, but this was not worth the price. Facilities were below par. Course layout was ok. Conditions subpar at best—fairways were not maintained, greens were punched and choppy even without the aeration, Cary paths were not drivable. Best part was pace of play, as I was able to essentially play 2 balls on nearly every whole. So in that respect it as what I was looking for.
Disrepair and Neglect
The entire course and facility was in disrepair. No grass had been cut in weeks. The shop was old and dingy. The pool was more like a frog/mosquito pond. The greens were completely brown with multiple having bare spots in them throughout. There were so many leaves i lost two balls that werent even ob. I wont be back unless there are drastic changes.
This course needs a lot of work on it. The greens were in bad shape with bare dirt on many of them. The fairways and tees had weeds on them.
Was good in the 80s, now it needs to close
This place has so much history. From the 80s all the way to the mid 90s, it was the home of the ACC Golf tournament, and names like Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar have all graced this course. However, like everything else in Rocky Mount, rising crime and a plummeting economy have killed this place. The owners haven’t tended the course in years, there’s black mold growing in the men’s locker room and bathrooms. The fairways and rough are all the same cut, and that’s 3 inches high or more. The bunkers are full of weeds, and it’s like concrete. The cart paths are caved in and some are just out of service. The place needs to close and be fixed. Bring it back to its former glory. Until then go to Belmont Lake.
Warm up round
Simple straightforward golf. Good shape for mid March. Just to play an inexpensive 18 to warm up,on the way south for a golf trip, this is a good spot
Good ol boys course
This course is atrocious, stay away unless you love playing terrible golf courses.
Decide!
I think they need to decide if they want to run a golf course or shut down. Pulling in, you see that the building and surrounding pool area are in disrepair, not seasonal disrepair but years worth of neglect!. The clubhouse is also in need of renovation. The range was ok but nothing to write home about. The course was wet, which given the recent amount of rain could be forgiven, but several sand traps were moats and I lost a ball in a sand trap because I refused to get my feet soaked to get it out. The greens were not groomed at all and the ball didn’t roll as much as hop across the green when putted. My last gripe would be the car paths. My prostate got a full workout with the constant cracks and bumps you rode across to get from hole to hole, again years worth of neglect. In addition, several areas had trees across the path and several areas had so much debris across the path that you couldn’t even guess what the path was. Lastly, I had to veer off the path to go around a tree in the path, when I did I got stuck in a muddy section. I had to pack my gear and walk the last 4 holes. So, you guessed it, I won’t be back. They really need to decide if they want to run a golf course, my guess is they do not.
worst cart path and wet
It had not rained in this area in 2 weeks and the course was a swamp on multiple holes. It just seemed to retain water and had no drainage. Needs to put work into cart path, completely destroyed in multiple places.
Greens were in good condition.
