Winding Creek Golf Club
About
Winding Creek Golf Club in Thomasville is an 18-hole municipal course that is one of the most affordable rounds in the area. It is a regulation-length layout that measures 6,367 yards from the tips. The design is a true target-golf test that is player friendly enough for beginners but will also challenge more advanced players. The golf course is perched atop one of the highest points in Davidson County. From elevated tees and greens you can enjoy dramatic views as well as some intimidating shots. It's a golf course that will most likely have you using every club in your bag. Though there is plenty of variety, the course isn't too formidable for high handicappers. In addition to the golf course, Winding Creek also has a putting green and driving range that you can use for warming up.

Not as good as it has been...
Played in the middle of the day and they had let a group of 6 play together which took 3 holes to play through...greens had several bare patches... course has been in much better shape in the past... hope it recovers soon, i like the layout..
golf at winding creek
The course was recomended by a co-worker so I took him up at his word. The course was challengeing from white tees players were friendly that we passed on course. overall value was great.
Great time
Course is in good condition.Great early morning rounds. After 9:00 to many hackers. Or people learning to play. No marshals to speed up play or move them over to get by.
Good over all course
Good course for the money. Tee shots need to be in the fairway or you are in for a frustrating round.
Nice course for the money.
It had been a few years since I last played Winding Creek, but I was pleasantly surprised by its condition (especially the greens). Still needs some maintenance here and there, but overall a good course for the average golfer.
5 July
Great course! Well maintained grounds, very friendly staff. I will definitely recommend this course to all my friends.
Pleasantly surprised!
First time playing yesterday and was really surprised! Great value and great conditions ! Highly recommend this course!
Surprisingly awesome
The greens were the best in the Lexington area and the course itself is just challenging enough to be a lot of fun.
Very hilly
Challenging course with lots of deeply slanting fairways. Shot placement is extremely important since you could easily have a good shot roll downhill and leave either a tough lie or lost ball.
unique track
Took my sister out for her birthday here and was pleasantly surprised. Wide open off the tee but with many blind shots that made it a bit of a challenge. Fairways were lush and green due to recent rains but not soggy. Greens showed promise but definitely in tough shape. Not a flat piece of land on the course so be prepared to play up, down and sideways but the design was interesting with some very challenging shots and holes. I found it difficult to judge distance but this was due mostly to the nature of the holes and not lack of markers. All in all a very interesting course and a great value for the money. I definitely will go back.
Great value
Can't be the bang for the buck. Will play it again and use golf now for sure.
OK
I thought that the course was challenging because it was not in very good condition and it was way too easy to get into trouble because of the blind shots and need to use a short club on so many locations.
Good value for golfnow pricing
This course has a lot of hills and requires a lot of energy to chase your ball sometimes. The fairway is maintained to an average quality, I wouldn't compare it to Bryan park or similar. The greens are ridiculously slow and tend to tee cup so be prepared for a few extra chips around the green. Overall we enjoy playing here and the staff are very friendly. Pro shop prices are good too if you need a little something before you start or halfway through.
Best deal around.
Very nice course, lots of room if you spray the ball, hilly, don't think I'd like to walk this course unless in peak physically shape. For the price you can't beat it !!! Would play again.
Best bang for your buck!
Our group loves this course. You will not find a better course for the price!
unusual experience
I have played this course over 50 times. But my most recent visit had some unusual things happen that I haven't experienced here before. We played very early a 7:30am tee time. We were playing pretty fast no one else on the course except a couple grounds men doing their daily routine. As we came to the 8th hole par 3 we looked to the green chose clubs I hit my shot landed on the fringe. As my partner stepped up to hit he saw that the mower was coming up from the back of the green. He waited for a moment to see if the mower was going to stop and let us proceed or continue to mow. He did see us by the way. To our surprise he decided he was going to mow and make us wait while he also drove over my ball on the fringe and continued to mow all around the green. My partner decided to go ahead and hit while the mower was off to the side of the green.he pulled his shot left and landed about 15 yards off the green. We drove up I walked over to my now plugged ball and he proceeded to his. As he lined up to chip onto the green the mower STILL continued to mow back and forth directly in front of him. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen from a grounds crew worker. After we finished that hole and proceeded to continue playing we were going smooth until the 14th hole where they had started a shotgun start tournament in front of us. They did the shotgun by starting teams on 1-9 and then going backwards from 18 all the way to 14. It didn't seem like a normal tournament start. So come to fine out the four teams that were in front of us 14-18 were all elderly, which is fine but why not start them on 10-14 and we would have been out of the way in no time and then the tournament could play on. We had played 13 holes in just under 2 hours and 15 minute. With the addition of the tournament for four hole we ended up playing 4 holes in about 1:45 minutes making our round a bout 4 hours and some change. It was a very different situation from what I have experienced in the past at this course.
Probably won't go back
Overall it was not that good of an experience. This was my second time there. This time there was a tournament playing. Wish I had known. Was re routed all over the course. Did the first Half we were told we would have go to fifteen and play to eighteen and then pick up ten and finish from there. The staff was nice enough but the confusion and the overall course was tough to follow the holes. Will no go back anytime soon. The price was good though. That's the only good point.
Fun time..
This course is fun in my first visit. It is good to play hole to hole not to bother any player group. But it is not Available to have lunch that my group want to get food after nine hole. Any guys is so friendly that is why I recommend friends with affordable food.
I played it years ago
I haven't played the course in years and was quite surprised to find it in so so shape. The greens were very inconsistent, some very slow, others very fast, the fairways in not so good condition. I look forward to playing there later in the season, hoping that the maintenance improves.
Will recommend
First time. Enjoyed the course. Will recommend and return
