Winding Creek Golf Club
About
Winding Creek Golf Club in Thomasville is an 18-hole municipal course that is one of the most affordable rounds in the area. It is a regulation-length layout that measures 6,367 yards from the tips. The design is a true target-golf test that is player friendly enough for beginners but will also challenge more advanced players. The golf course is perched atop one of the highest points in Davidson County. From elevated tees and greens you can enjoy dramatic views as well as some intimidating shots. It's a golf course that will most likely have you using every club in your bag. Though there is plenty of variety, the course isn't too formidable for high handicappers. In addition to the golf course, Winding Creek also has a putting green and driving range that you can use for warming up.

GOOD CONDITIONS
Considering most courses in our area are in rough shape due to a rough winter, Surprisingly Winding Creek was in better shape than most and that includes some of the nicer courses. Most courses in the area have rough fairways where as Winding Creeks fairways were in better than expected condition. Overall for the money you couldn't ask for a better deal. Was pleasantly surprised at the good condition of the course compared to the rough shape of some of the nicer more expensive courses in the area
Not for me
I arrived an hour early. In that hour not one person came off number 9. They had a tournament that started at 130. That was my tee time also. Double booking? Soon as tournament started no carts out for us. Then the lead staff member leaves. If this is your idea of playing golf and service then go enjoy. I personally think management is soon to change.
could have been worse
Nice play. Open fairways. Forgiving holes. Average green speed. Hilly so finding the next hole was a small challenge. Overall not bad for the money.
Call before you book 18
Was disappointed upon arrival I booked for 18 however I was informed that I had to play the front 9 twice due to the back 9 being used for a "captain's choice" had I knew of that beforehand I would of chosen to play elsewhere that day.
Good value
Greens were in good condition. Fairways and tees were ok, but this could change once the warm weather stays. Overall not bad for 13 bucks.
Long day
Course had seen a lot of rain, wetter than expected. Carts were path only, which generally isn't a problem but my playing partner for the day is 70 years old and doesn't get around well on a hilly course. The greens had been recently aerated and were still sanded and somewhat bumpy. We've played the course before and had an excellent time, may need to call before heading out to make sure there isn't standing water in the fairways and recently aerated greens.
Should have went with wife to Wal-Mart
Tee Times are irrelevant. Showed up 20 minutes prior to tee time and as usual, the first tee was backed up. There were 4 Foursomes waiting on #1. Not only do you spend your entire day dodging other golfers hooks and slices, but you do it all while imitating a mountain goat. Accept...you're not really on a mountain...but you're playing on top of a Land Fill that's been covered up with dirt. It's about as low as you can get. Still...it's better than playing at Lexington Municipal...dealing with JJ.
Winding Creek
Not a bad course and an interesting layout. Wide open, but some side hill fariways where you have to hit smart. But it was a 70F day in February and the place was packed. Waited 25 min past our tee time for a cart and it was a 2.5 hour 9-hole pace. We played 10 and 11 and had to leave. Plus they stopped serving hotdogs after 5:00. :(
Hard to understand why a course would book more golfers than carts, but I don't own a course and might do the same if I did.
Deceivingly open tempter
This course is a great layout with several tempting tee shots. Play it smart and you should score well. Yield to temptation and could log your best score ever, OR you could be buying lunch for the rest of your group. Fun course. Love the twists and turns and elevation changes. We'll definitely be back.
great time
Always have a great time and I have met alot of good people who enjoy playing as much as I do
Winter golf
Winter golf is what it is. Course was in the condition one would expect in late November = Dormant with a lot of leaves everywhere and the greens not in the best condition. With that said, the price is more than reasonable when you take that into consideration. During the Spring and Summer the course is in good condition and you would be hard pressed to find a better value in the area unless you are a country club type of golfer.
Tough nice layout
Excellent challenging course in exceptional shape. Fast greens with lots of undulation. Best value in the Triad.
Father and son golf round
Not only did I enjoy the course conditions at Winding Creek, I loved playing with my son, even though he beat me three strokes.
I liked the fact that they are working on improving the cart paths that are being harmed by tree roots.
very nice experience
Geens are in very good shape. Well groomed fairways Nice snack shop with friendly employees
Nice little Course
This is a nice course in good condition. Great value for the money and staff is very friendly.
Good Value
This course is convenient to my home but the course is a pretty good course. The only issues is that there are a few greens that are eat up with disease or just too wet. Makes it hard to keep it at a one putt when your ball diverts. The staff are super nice. pro shop has adequate supplies and the grill has good food with a outside dining area over looking the 9th fairway.
Overall a nice place at a great value.
excellent fairways and greens even with all the rain
It was raining but the course held up very nicely even with all the rain....the greens were in excellent shape and the fairways....the only complaint I had was my game (lol)
good value, course needs work
Winding creek has potential, very neat layout. Fairway and rough are ok, greens are awful between ball marks and and huge dead spots, only thing that keeps this place going is price. If your looking for a really cheap round of golf go here. If your looking for high quality, spend a few extra dollars and go to blair park down the road
